The main aim is to reduce your carb intake and eat quality carbs to control your blood sugar. So the answer to your question is a strong possibility.

No. Savoury doesn't mean low GI. Meat, fish, vegetables and salad veg. Whole grain rice, bread and pasta but small quantities and or just a couple of times per week. Fruits like apples and berries.
