Does anyone have a nice recipe for Hake, a fish I love but so rarely manage to find?
In the past only way I ate most white fish was to fry it and although my only fried food and cholesterol is on the low side I want to try other ways to cook fish. I cannot now have gluten or dairy - been a year and still working out what I can eat and how I can sub gluten/dairy-free options, so don't worry if any recipe has gluten or dairy in it, I will work it out. There are now dairy free options for things like cream, cheese - hard and cream cheese as well as butter ( ok it is marg but tastes like butter, when I can get hold of it)
Thanks

M&S has hake fillets in the freezer cabinet if you have a store close.I don't follow recipes but sometimes bake it in oven with a tomato, green pepper, garlic and onion sauce. Occasionally add chorizo which lends itself very well to hake.
Thanks will be buy M&S on Monday so will have a look and hopefully stock up.
Thanks for the recipe idea, I rarely follow ones for meat, chicken just make it up as I go on day but fish just never done anything except fry as do love it but want to try it new ways, so am grateful.
Hi, I've had this curried coconut hake recipe a few time is and it's delicious. I'm trying to eat anti inflammatory but also avoiding carbs. So eat this with cauliflower rice instead of real rice.
I also do lots offish parcels in the oven too. Another recipe for that included too.
Hi, I ordered it in a pub restaurant recently and it was oven baked with a lemon and fennel sauce with a green chopped up leafy bit to it too. I didn't ask what the green bit was but I'm guessing it was a bit of puree'd coriander or parsley, judging from the taste. It was accompanied with a risotto flavoured with a hint of lime, lime zest and toasted coconut. It was delicious and I hope to cook it myself at home soon. My mouth is watering now! 😁
My favorite whitefish recipe is to sauté onion, chopped tomato, and cilantro leaves, then cook the fish on top. Grated cheddar sprinkled on last. Not sure there's a lactose-free cheese that tastes decent, but you could just leave it out.
