Among The Old Ones

When I get overwhelmed and it's "Too Peopley" or the flashbacks get too much, and the cabin walls are closing on me.

I walk up the trail near me to the Old Ones. I can lose my self in the cool and green of trees and recoup and reconnect.

I like that. If only the trees could tell us all the things they have seen. It would be wise, I am sure of it.

Thanks. I so agree! I've often thought that myself... I have experienced the Chi of trees, especially the old Oaks here. It gives me a sense of calm and being grounded.

In my area, they are calling it forest bathing. I think it is a Japanese thing that the local hippies have started doing. I took a nature walk with them to see what it was all about.

I thought I do it better. Bare footed on the trails. Walking gingerly with no time restrains and observing what ever appears in your field of view. A good way to slow down.

Thanks for reminding me.

You're welcome! I have slowed waaaaay down since retiring and moving here. I've not encountered that before.. I wonder if it's like a "Sound Bath" ....New-Age? Going barefoot in this forest would e difficult at best. The various detritus on the forest floor would really tear up one's feet in a second. Technically speaking, this is considered High Desert. Despite the presence of oaks, of several types and the same for conifers. There are even the occasional cactus. it's definitely a mix. That's part of the beauty here.

Yea, I got tough feet because seldom wear shoes around my house and since COVID that is all the time, but all that said I would probably not walk in your woods. :)

My woods are in Georgia and are very lush with lots of leaves. Still not an easy walk but with my tough feet and very high pain tolerance from PTSD makes it doable for me.

Beautiful trees...

I found comfort in very old trees as well and it helped looking at something that has been there for so many generations and is like a constant.

There was a very old cathedral near where I used to live and the details of it for some reason gave me a sense of peace. It was unlike me as I am usually triggered by things like old furniture yet that cathedral was different.

Knowing there are some constants really comforted me.

Thank you for sharing beautiful nature and uour safe place. It is very peaceful.

This looks like a beautiful, peaceful and graceful place. Sigh!! Breathe <3

Yes, it is. The best part is, it's remote and very few people know it even exists.
