Anyone have to try multiple antidepressants?

So all of you who may be following my struggle/story, know that I finally got my dr to approve a daily dose of benzo due to many factors. I have also been taking g Luvox for about 6 months and quite frankly it has not done a thing, It then occurred to me that the best I ever felt was a few years ago when I took sertraline with the addition of klonopin. It was only when I took the klonopin with the sertraline that it helped (this was a different doctor). I am now going to ask my new dr to change me to this regimen. I somewhat fear his reaction but I do know that the klonopin had more of a positive effect when it was used with the sertraline versus the Luvox. Is this possible? I have tried sooooooo many meds but that combo seemed to work best. Thanks,

Every person is different in what treatment works for them. You have the right to tell your dr this isn’t working and what has worked in the past and ask if there is any good reason you can’t be changed to that treatment regime.I find it useful to tell myself when dealing with a medical professional that as I am paying for the consult, I am in that moment their employer! It helps me with the irrational fear I have of medical professionals.

All the best to you with the consult.

I understand. For a long time I have been talking Paxil. It got to the point ( exacerbated by the pandemic lock down and a couple of other things that happened prior.I tried Welbutrin by itself. That was a mistake. I went further " down the tubes"

I talked with my Doctor and we decided to try a combination of Paxil and Welbutrin.

That's been about 6 months now.

I'm feeling better 😌 I do have occasional bouts of depression but they don't last long .

I tried many different antiperspirants for what my present doctor calls complex depression disorder. More than a dozen over about a 15 year period.

Some helped. Most did nothing but weird side effects.

I changed doctors again and she wanted to add a small dose of mirtasapine with my Effexor. I agreed but I figured it was not going to help.

It actually helped. Side effects are not for everyone but it really helped. Most people get very tired but I take my dosage at night so it helps me sleep until my body got used to it.

I feel if a doctor is willing to try something and is willing to get feedback from me that I would try anything to feel better. Life is too short and it is my life.

I still have to do other work with a therapist and see the Med doctor so it obviously does not fix everything but it is sooo much better.

Good luck. Multiple meds is getting more and more common.

I took Klonopin for 20 years. Beware, of it and all other Benzo drugs. I was never told the literal hell you go through coming off the Klonopin. It’s been since 12/2019 I started coming off 3 mg per day down to 1mg per day as of now. The withdrawal was bad and I’m a Christian and relied totally upon God. My lung Dr noticed my thumbnails were purple and told me not to come off the final one milligram because it’s putting too much stress on my heart. This is where I stand today.

Not sure if you just started taking the Klonopin or have been taking it but in my experience it’s an evil drug.

I will pray for you.

I take 0.5 klonopin daily with sertraline. Do I like that I have to do this, no, but it helps. I am 63. Even if I live 20 more years, which is debatable due to my less than stellar health, at that point I will not even attempt nor would I think a dr would attempt to take me off. Now if I was 23, 33 or 43: it would be a totally different story.

I understand. I feel that way also and am 67. I do know after 65 being on Klonopin can cause breathing issues if you have surgery.
