I woke up this morning with a head full of cold. I guess nothing strange about that as most people have succumbed to something recently. Three weeks ago I was in bed with flu, a temperature of 103, which I couldn't get down whatever I took. I have hardly recovered before going down with this cold. What I wondered is, does anyone know of anything I could take to boost my immune system. I take Vitamin D, B12 and Selenium as I have underactive thyroid. I know you have to be careful what you take in case it isn't compatable with Thyroxine. Thanks a lot

talk to your gp or other healthcare profesonal as taking suppliments can be dangerouse
Hello Wednesday, so sorry to hear you're feeling poorly with a cold. Your resistance has obviously taken a knock with having flu recently and your immune system needs building up a bit.
You don't necessarily need to take supplements, you can ensure you get all the nutrients you need from your diet, and this coupled with sleep, a little exercise if you can manage it, and ensuring you eat enough protein, carbohydrates and fats to boost your immune system should be sufficient.
If you think you still need a vitamin supplement, please discuss this with your GP first as taking supplements to excess can be harmful, when usually you can achieve the required amounts through your diet - fresh fruits and vegetables should supply most of your vitamins and minerals.
I hope this helps a bit and I really hope you feel better soon. Keep warm and make sure you drink enough fluids too as this will help build you up again too - fruit juices, milk and water etc.
Take care. (((hug))) xxx
Libs
Smoothies either home made or shop bought can be good as well.
Thanks for that Libs , I am wary of taking to many supplements. It's been a difficult year so maybe I need to start looking after ME for a change. Take care xx
Zinc and vitamin C.
