I had to come off caffieine as I have high blood pressure. I only drink tea but quite alot of it. I started by using de-caff tea-bags for every other mug of tea i had, after a couple of weeks I cut down the normal tea by having 1 normal then 2 de-caff and I have got now to the point where my first mug of tea of the day is normal and all the rest are de-caff and I don't get the bad headaches anymore.

Good luck !!

The only way to wean yourself off any drug is by reducing it slowly.

Yes definitely reduce slowly. Watch that diet coke - there's nothing in there that can possibly do you any good. Try swapping the cokes for a juice with fizzy water or something that doesn't contain artificial substances. Organic cola isn't too bad.

Even the caffeine-free stuff is poison - full of Aspartame, a noxious artificial sweetener. Check out this film here - topdocumentaryfilms.com/swe...

if you still want to drink the stuff I'll be surprised - it is POISON!! It has even been suggested that Aspartame can bring on or make worse the symptoms of fibromyalgia.

good luck, and go slow!

Christine, I'm on the warpath with all these additives, especially the ones in our meds. Have previously posted about aspartame in my Adcal - calcium and vit. D chewable tablets. Saw another new doctor the other day and she very kindly researched and found me a swallowable tablet - I'll be checking the label when I collect them and let you know later.

Morning!

Please do it slowly! Im an all or nothing girl, a few yrs ago, prior to FM, i went from about 10 cups of tea / coffee a day to nothing. i had a really bad headache for at least 3 weeks, no tablet even touched the pain. I wouldnt contemplate doing it now!

Slowly does it! Good luck!

xx

I agrree with all the above try to make small changes and gradually reduce your intake, I've given up caffine and its worth doing but not easy I use to drink loads of diet coke and I swapped it for fruity pop like diet lemonade, fanta ect.. that helped a lot.

Good luck with it and don't give up! xx :o)

THANK YOU EVERYONE i am glad to get advice from everyone but even better from the people who have been there i worked out today that i never new the cost of my coke habit (hee hee) i am a smoker ( please dont shout lets quit 1 habit at a time ) i smoke 20 to 25 a day and i spend more a week on coke than i do on my ciggarettes. you could have knocked me down with a feather. now i am looking forward to spending that money elsewhere.

again THANK YOU ALL.
