Cramp in legs

I think you have got some good information already on here, however I drink a glass of tonic water as it has quinine, that helps with cramps and restless legs.

Based on what you’ve described, leg cramps and sensations of restless legs may be a symptom related to mineral deficiencies or imbalances in your body. Drinking tonic water with quinine is often recommended, as quinine is known to help relieve muscle cramps for some people.

Important considerations about quinine

1. Moderation: Quinine in small amounts, like that found in tonic water, can be beneficial for reducing nighttime cramps. However, it should be consumed in moderation, as excessive use may lead to side effects.

2. Consult a doctor: If you’re thinking of drinking tonic water regularly, it’s essential to consult a healthcare professional, especially if you have pre-existing medical conditions or are taking other medications.

Additional recommendations for leg cramps:

1. Stay hydrated:

Ensure you drink enough water throughout the day. Dehydration can worsen muscle cramps.

2. Electrolyte intake:

Increase your consumption of potassium (bananas, avocados) and magnesium (nuts, leafy greens, or supplements like magnesium citrate) to balance essential minerals in your body.

3. Gentle stretches before bed:

Perform stretching exercises to relax your leg muscles, particularly if you frequently experience nighttime cramps.

4. Massage or apply heat:

Massaging your legs or applying heat locally can help relax tense muscles and prevent cramps.

5. Avoid triggers: Reducing caffeine or alcohol intake before bed may help minimise episodes of restless legs or nighttime cramps.

Final reflection

While solutions like tonic water with quinine can be helpful, it’s essential to address leg cramps holistically, considering nutrition, exercise, and medical advice when needed. If the cramps persist or worsen, it’s best to consult a doctor to rule out any underlying conditions. If you have further questions or need more support, don’t hesitate to ask in the group; there will always be someone willing to help.👍🙏💪

We have from time to time people making a new post rather than replying to the post they were reading. It can be a lip of the thumb on a phone or just the placement of the blue buttons on the site.

It is much better to reply to the original post as it makes sense first of all and if it was on its own it will not. But also if you are thanking or replying to something in that post then the people on the post will be notified where they will not on a brand new unconnected post.

So we will tend to lock the new orphan post and put a note on it and then possibly remove it later.

This video may help explain the difference between replying and writing a new post. Hope it helps. Has audio but we may add text at some point.
