Quinine

I think you have got some good information already on here, however I drink a glass of tonic water as it has quinine, that helps with cramps and restless legs.

Hi, iv suffered severe restless legs for years, also affecting my right arm.The treatment that augmentated my symptoms was pramipexole, Quinine didnt work and pregablin didn't work,currently back on ropinarol and codeine.

My doctor won't prescribe me gabapentin because of side effects instead I was given quinine sulphate which, surprise surprise, was no use at all. Is there anything else I can ask for that might help that he will be more likely to prescribe?

She said with regard to cramps it isn't fibro related, and due to the way it reacts with other medications she wouldn't recommend Quinine. Just collected my prescription. QUININE! No sign of the Amitryptaline. She obviously didn't listen to herself, let alone me! Where do I go from here?

I have it very severly at night only behind the left knee , and in both feet x I do have quinine sulphate on prescription , any ideas ? Its awful as it wakes me up in the night ? ( my sleep is only about 2-3 hours ) many thanks and gentle hugs x

She’s just prescribed me Quinine!! For cramp I said it’s not cramp it’s rls and plmd! I’ve managed to persuade her to give me some codedine. She’s prescribed 28 at 25 mgs and said only take on when I’m desperate.

The GP took her off that and put her on quinine but this doesn't do anything for it. They now want to take her off quinine due to the kidney failure but is not suggesting any alternative medication. She's just called me in a frantic state as she's on the dialysis machine and got the fidgets.

Lupus sufferer already on the usual drugs Mycophenolic , Steroids ,Quinine etc

Dr's don't prescribe quinine in GB what do I do to help myself? Also is this part of PBC?

Anyone know if having tonic, that has quinine, an issue for PC?

In Jan 24 I went to my GP, he prescribed Quinine which was 200mg then raising to 300mg after 3 weeks. Didn’t make any significant difference but think I tended to get more ‘restless itchy hot foot (soles) symptoms.

hi all I’ve had RLS for about 15-20 years and gone through the usual Quinine then amitryptiline in increasing doses to no avail. RLS went from occasional nights to every single night. Eventually begged GP for something else and was px Ropinirole 0.25 on increasing doses up to 1mg.

I'm not able to take quinine as it makes my heart beat faster and with Angina that's not a good idea. So does anyone have any suggestions for stopping this cramping. Thanks Terry

I told my family doctor about it at age 21 and he wrote me a script for Quinine capsules. Boom gone! Years later the new doctor says it didn't work and tried to make me take Restoril or some other crap. I ended up buying my own from Australia.

Quinine, pickle juice and a 'bar of soap', for example, do not work. Have nothing to do with mail order or OTC miracles, quacks or junk science.

Somewhere in the back of my remaining brain cell is a vague feeling that the (minute) quinine ingredient is problematic. Does anyone remember why?

Anyone ever hear about drinking tonic water before bedtime that contains quinine??

Now my medication has been changed taken off gabapentin Amitriyline now taking topiramate , duloxetine, quinine, Co-Codamol .Should I let them know and will it affect my PIP snow could they stop me having it I’m really dependent on this money I’m really worried.

My doctor has just prescribed quinine as a relief from Pramipexole which I have been on for over 20 years. I was so taken aback I couldn't argue with her, but surely this doesn't work as well as any of the drugs described here. Has anyone had any success with quinine?

I suffer RSL terribly I need help badly although it restless legs I suffer with my arms as well I am taking Premaprexole tramadol and quinine.nothing seems to work when I get the restless i have to get out of bed and walk around I can't sit and I can't lay down it's a continuous struggle it is affecting
