Hi all I’m intrigued as to what everyone’s hobbies are. I like reading, watching crime series on tv, playing the keyboard (need to get back into it), sudoku puzzles, learning languages and swimming what do you do?
Hobbies: Hi all I’m intrigued as to... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Hobbies
I love learning new things and am always interested in one thing or another! Usually human behaviour or how the brain works etc
I go aqua , walk Finley , bake , and paint (watercolours) I also love people (rather be out and about) but when fibromyalgia gets difficult I curl up and watch crime - (escapism) neese x
My hobbies are knitting and crochet, I love watching soaps on the way TV plus crime series, etc too many to recall haha, I also enjoy crosswords. I used to love meeting people but now with this fibromyalgia I have social anxiety, night night fibro fighters
Gentle hugs Rosie xx 🙏🙏💤❤️💤
This sounds like it was written by me! Exactly the same hobbies, haha. (Apart from the part you used to love meeting people. I have always been shy , and have social anxiety)
It's a horrible thing to have, I also agoraphobia. I hope you manage to overcome it and if you do let me know haha, you have to try and laugh it's a bit better than crying although I had an old auntie that said the more you weep the less you pee lol
Gentle hugs Rosie xx 🙏❤️
Hahaha. Thanks for your humorous reply! Love it . I don't think I will ever get over my social anxiety, and the less I am engaging with people, the worse it seems to get, lol. One to one's are not too bad, but groups of people are a no-no!Even if its 3 people, that's a big group for me!Eek!
Lol I must be sleepy, I didn't mean to say way before tv, I don't know where it came from haha I think I'll blame predictive text
Gentle hugs Rosie xx
These days I do nothing, too boring😪hoping to change all next year 🤞
The pain is not leaving me alone and love being on my own and cuddle my bed, in between I do some physio etc to prepare myself for 2021 😀
Hi like colouring , walking a little,and my iPad game s . Big hug s x
Knitting—- hats and squares for a charity. And I’ve recently got back into card making. I love needle felting but find too much seizes up my right shoulder and causes pain.
And what is it with crime and having fibro? I watch way too much real life crime on TV.
I go swimming for an hour Monday mornings, it's a faff and painful getting there and back and I certainly pay for it for the rest of the day but oh to be in the water SUCH BLISS! That hour of feeling 'normal' is worth every pain/fatigue afterwards.
Other than that, I walk the dog, read, watch TV and maybe meet friends for lunch when I am able. It's a very solitary life these days.
I live in Spain so 'swim', in truth just pottering about in the pool, every day in summer but in winter the effort of getting to a public indoor pool just isn't worth it. But I do miss the water. One of my 'if I won the lottery' fantasies is a pool I could use all year round!
I agree, being in the water and feeling normal is the best feeling.
I used to go to the gym daily, watch medical programmes and a place in the sun. I also liked listening to music and walking. I liked reading up on additional needs of children and how to support them physically and mentally. I am a qualified nursery nurse/learning support assistant with life experience of having a child with additional needs. Now I can't face any of it. I can't concentrate, memory is poor, don't have the strength or physical abilities for previous hobbies and a place in the sun is now a nightmare instead of a dream (now that I am unable to work and have no future funds for one). I think I need to find a new hobby lol.
Definitely a crime theme going on - love a bit of crime drama, Reading as well as tv. Recently been listening to a lot of audiobooks - if anyone is a Dorothy Sayers fan the Jill Paton Walsh Lord Peter Wimsey books, read by Edward Petheridge, are great. Also learning piano - slowly working my way through grades (3 at the mo). The last year has been tricky- problems with my right arm meant v limited practice and only playing with left hand for a while, but a little better now. I have a foolish hankering to try figure skating again - took a break, intended to be temporary, when first diagnosed with fibro 4 years ago then broke both my ankles six months later and never skated again. It would be insane, but no better feeling than gliding across the ice - I miss it.
Ooooh! Hobbies!
In my 72 years I've had lots. Currently, It's crochet and some simple knitting, Macrame, Reading history texts and the occasional novel, preferably historical.
I'm trying to research my Huguenot ancestors. I'm into folklore and the Bronze and Iron Ages, Trying to learn to play the harp, I paint and draw, do craft things,
I don't watch much TV, But as a former dancer, I watch Strictly to bitch about the dancing! I like Call the Midwife, and moan about the unreality of Casualty and Holby. I enjoy Silent Witness (I was a nurse, so I love the medical stuff!). I prefer to watch documentaries, such as the Historical reenactment ones such as Tudor Farm, etc. The News is a must each evening, as I don't read the papers.
I no longer dance, nor do I ride any more, although I still love being around horses whenever I can.
I am a fan of Victorian Industrial architecture and machinery, including pumping engines, steam driven machinery of all kinds from fairground to locomotives.
I could go on for hours, but you'd get bored!
Cheers, Midori
Horse riding is my thing, I used to do quite a lot of competitive jumping & dressage, but now I can only manage gentle pootling about, but I find it is a great help, getting ready is tough, but once I'm on & out in the countryside it's great.
I also enjoy crime series on the tv, reading and gentle walking.
For me the more I move the better I am, but of course there are times when I just can't manage.
I'm a mathematician so spent my career in 'scientific' pursuits. So when I retired I wanted to do something creative. I am lucky, I have been able to create a lovely studio room in my house, I make jewellery from semi precious stones and silver, increasingly stainless steel as it doesn't corrode. Recently I treated myself to mini kiln and I have started glass fusing, making small items like coasters , candle holders and jewellery out if glass. And I intend to start working with precious metal clay, a clay that when fired turns to silver - like magic!
It encourages me to keep going when I feel tired and sore.
I love to cook, all types but especially anything spicy like Thai, Indian or Cajun
In summer I also swim everyday.
And if I can't manage anything else I 'devour' books!
Love a good horror film, researching child 🤱development and learning, new legislation. Have been learning how to crochet, not very good but getting better🧶online shopping lol having coffee with friends. Best if all playing with my granddaughter 💕🌈love and peace
I like crime TV as well, I find it so fasinating. I enjoy wildlife photography, drawing, yoga and quilling, I also enjoy a good audio book and more recently getting into those Train your Brain books
I listen to music everyday, it's the first love of my life and I like most genres, lol. I also love my cat. I like reading mainly fantasy/paranormal stuff and young adult science fiction, I like to pretend I'm still young at heart if not in body :).
I play badminton once a week (that's enough to recover from) been playing it for over 20yrs so not planning on stopping until my shoulders finally give up altogether. Funnily enough, I'm into reading crime/thrillers/horrors.
I like to crochet, knit and craft-usually personalised birthday cards and gifts like Amigurumi Bunnies.
I used to enjoy swimming but I can't deal with the cold water, so haven't done it now for years.
Today I relived my childhood by going on a swing in my local park.

Aww I have a dog who is my companion x
Hey,after reading the amount of hobbies some people have I feel very lazy! I do love DIY and decorating, for me or others, not so able now tho and things take me twice as long and of course painting a couple of doors results in a right arm of pain later, love crafts and upcycled jobs,my ideal man would be a man with a van and a workshop if I was bothered
My hobbies are watching crime/murder mystery programmes on the TV and on YouTube. I also like drawing and other creative activities.
I also love my job as i work with children. Work long hours but all the medicane and deep heat roll on and just keep going and get through each day.
But I am always physically and emotionally and mentally drained by the end of the week made worse by all my medicane having side effect of making you sleepy.
Has anyone found anything that helps with your fibromylia e.g. medicane, tens machine or something similar etc?
I teach drumming to kids and adults, don’t have time for anything else.🥁
