Hello Bernie. I hope you are feeling better a few days down the line. Maybe you had an anxiety attack. Did you start or come of any medication, if not, and you don't know where the feelings came from, I would talk to your doctor about it, and maybe even take a printout of this page to help him/her understand better if you feel you can't describe how you felt to them?
I know feeling anxious is awful and a lot of the time I can't even begin to think how my attacks start or where they come from. Since my new meds I am a bit better (touch wood) but even the most healthy of people have panics (and they are the ones who are probably more likely to seek treatment than us old sufferers - we don't like to bother anyone or think we are a burden..).
When I panic I think that I am all on my own, no one understands me, and even that my loving husband is going to leave me. I curl up into a ball and cannot stop crying. Yet afterwards I look back and it astounds me how it could ever really be that bad, and vow never to be the same...and it happens again a few days later with no control. Medication helps (I am now on Cymbalta) and I think it dampens that "fight or flight" response that starts an attack.
I do hope you are feeling better today - let us know.

Hi Bernie
I get very anxious at times and I'm not sure why. Is it possible for you to go and have a rest for a while?
Some deep breathing I find helps. Take a deep breath in and then let it out very slowly through your mouth with your lips closed (as if you were gently blowing out a candle).
Try to do this about ten times if you can.
If you can't have a rest is there something else you could do to occupy your mind for a while? Maybe a crossword or something not too challenging.
I don't think it's too important to find out why you feel scared. For the time being I would concentrate on trying to calm yourself down a little.
If you would like to chat some more I'm around for most of the day.
I hope that maybe helps a little bit?
I know everyone on here has their own coping strategies ~ so mine will be different to others, but I think anything is worth a shot.
Gentle hugs
Coz x
Just a thought but have you had your thyroid checked? Underactive thyroid can make you feel scared and panicky, as well as giving you brain fog.
