Forgetfulness

Hi,

Sorry you are feeling like this. I too get forgetful & do or say silly things, but I just turn it into a joke & say it has been a long day or one of those days! Most people are sympathetic to that. I do still think "what must I look like or what am I doing", & feel a bit worried about dementia, as both my parents had vascular dementia. But I have learned to flip my negative thoughts & not to berate myself over it, but just accept & blame the fibromyalgia! I remind myself of the good things I have done that day & tell myself that I am still intelligent & still have a good general knowledge when I watch & answer questions on tv quiz programmes or when doing crosswords. I had visited my GP before Christmas because of the chronic insomnia, forgetfulness & bad cramp I had over varying parts of my body & one of the blood tests revealed that I have a low folate level. I now have to take Folic Acid for 4 months, but if the folate level has not improved, I will then be referred to a consultant to test for any disorders that may affect my absorption levels. I think I have had this a long time, but it has never been tested before, only my iron/ferritin & B12 levels, which are always normal, even when I used to go to blood donor sessions & they often refused to take blood, as my iron level was a bit low & told to see my GP. My blood test always came back normal. I eventually stopped attending blood donor sessions because it mostly was a waste of time going, due to low iron readings they took. As a child my mother was often taking me to the GP to have iron tests, because my energy levels were low & I was pale & tired. My mother was always told the result was normal. Is it possible that the resulting normal iron level is not NORMAL for ME though?? Might be worth asking GP to test this? Take care.
