Painful left shoulder

Hello all

My left shoulder at the back is causing me pain. I'm sure I've had this before but I can't remember what helped. I've tried taking nurofen and Co-Codamol but they haven't helped much so far. I've also tried to take jointease (that's a supplement), turmeric and magnesium. Thank you

PS - updated post: when you get the list of similar posts on the right hand side, I noticed that one of the posts was mine from several years ago! So obviously this is something that I've had before! I suppose that's reassuring but I had it and it went away!

I always find Wheaty bags very helpful, I heat the wheaty bag up in the microwave, think it’s for a minute and then put a towel first on my shoulder area and then the wheaty bag. ( as quite hot) please be carefulI. do this about 3 or 4 times a day for about 3 days.

Thank you at rosepetal60, I used to have a wheaty bag but I don't anymore nor do I have a microwave LOL. But I have been using a hot water bottle and just taking medication yesterday which has helped a bit today

I have heard a wheaty bag can be put into an oven for a certain time but not tried it myself. Glad the hot water bottle is helping along with your meds.

Thank you :)

Yes I have had old notices come back to me the odd time...both my shoulders have problems, I see an orthopaedic surgeon who injects me with a steroid, may ask your g.p to get you referred, mine is called calcific tendonitis. I aslo buy voltarol pain plasters (not heat pacthes) they work well for me inn between seeing the surgeon.

Thank you. Yes I have some Voltarol gel and my sister had some freeze gel, plus I was taking medication. I think staying away from the computer helped too and just generally trying to rest it.

May not be fibro related. I had the same and ignored it until the pain was so bad I had to see the GP. Turned out after x-rays it was calcific tendonitis so it may be worth having it checked out as we do tend to put everything down to the dreaded fibro.

Thank you. Yes somebody else has mentioned calcific tendinitis. Luckily my shoulder pain has eased today by resting it, putting on gel and medication. Plus resting from the computer, I am dictating this. Also doing exercises.

that's good news - hope it continues to improve.
