Hi I am Colin, not sure how to start this it seems I forget things. It all started about six weeks ago when I had a dull pain in my back after work but other than that I was OK, went to bed and in the morning I could not get out of bed and was in such pain in my upper body ( neck down ) I have never known in my life.
Carried on working for six weeks with taking pain killers and every few days or so it seemed to get worse did not think that would be possible.
Went to see doctor Monday just gone and after many questions and what seemed to be a long examination he told me he suspects PMR and sent me to the local hospital for blood tests ( 4 bottles of the stuff ) had that done yesterday.
Today I found myself once again really struggling to get out of bed and was in so much pain what now seems the usual thing but now or today at least my knees have joined in the fun as well, I also feel very down . After reading on here and also on other websites I seem or I think this could be Fibro , but what ever it is I don't think I can do this right now .
Regards
Colin.
PS I am 61 and a HGV driver.............But after talking to my boss this morning maybe not for much longer. lol..

I would wait until your blood results come back, and then see what your GP says. If the bloods come back as being clear then ask your GP for a referral to a rheumatologist, or your GP might want further tests done himself.
Hi all , yeah I was afraid it could be pmr or is pmr a better option, I don't know. Blood tests came back today and they were normal but yet the symptoms I have seem to be getting much worse with a constant mild headache and stiffness + insane pain everywhere. Anyway got to see doctor next Monday so maybe / hopefully he can shed some light on this.
Lots of people who have PMR have normal blood markers
It took me 3 years to get a diagnose due to this , mine have never been raised .
I ended up nearly bed bound and was house bound for some time due to this .
The only way of knowing for sure is a short course of steroids normal starting dose is 15 and if you get a 50% reduction in pain and stiffness this would suggest PMR .
If not you can reduce or stop under medical supervision .
PMR will eventually burn itself out but you do need to readjust your life a bit .
I reduced my work hours from 39 a week to 29 and appear to be managing .
Left untreated it may lead to GCA which means you run the risk of possible sight lose
Hi Colin. I can't give a view re PMR vs Fibromyalgia but I was wondering about your P.S. and you getting advice on your rights at work/keeping your job, etc. Do you belong to a union? If not, Citizen's Advice can be really helpful - if you are not sure how to contact, just Google them and you will be able to find your nearest branch via the main website.
