Hi Butterfly72 I am not sure about this Hun to be honest but I would agree Hidden you need to get it checked out . I have diabetes have yearly checks. It does help with getting professional advice my eyes have changed each time.
Please book an appointment at opticians just to be on safe side. xxxxx
Hi Butterfly72
I have had Fibro & ME for 36 years and have never suffered what you are describing.
It is very tempting to put symptoms just down to Fibro.
However, I would strongly recommend that you see your GP and/Optician about this pain.
I wouldn't leave it if I were you and ask for an emergency appointment.
It is possible for problems with one eye to transfer to another, so please don't leave it.
Wishing you less pain and more peace
Lu xx
Hi Butterfly72 I'm sorry you are getting this pain In your eyes and I wonder if you are suffering from Pick axe Migraine because I get something similar & so does my daughter. I don't always get it in my eye but when I do, I always say, it feels like someone has poked me in the eye, I immediately have to hold me eye & usually shout ow ow owwww cos it really hurts. I have copied this information for you to see if it sounds the same. You should always visit gp with any eye or head pain, as already mentioned, there is always a chance of it being something more serious.
I get the auras as well, very rarely get a full blown head ache & only get one thing at a time, the aura, the sudden pains or the full migraine, although I really am a lot better since I've taken amitriptyline.
Luv Jan xx
What’s the best way to describe how an ice pick headache feels? It’s like someone’s stabbing your face with an ice pick. That’s why they're also called stabbing headaches.
Many people from time to time feel quick jabs or jolts of severe pain around one of their eyes or at their temple. They usually last only a few seconds.
They might happen in the same spot over and over again. Or, you could feel them in different places each time, such as on one temple and then the other. They can crop up at any time of day and even a few times a day. They may seem to come and go.
Who Gets Ice Pick Headaches?
You’re more likely to get ice pick headaches if you’re prone to migraines or cluster headaches. But you could get them even if you don’t normally have migraines. People usually first notice them between the ages of 45 and 50.
What Causes These Headaches?
It’s not clear what causes ice pick headaches. But doctors do know they’re not brought on by disease or injury. You may get them because something is wrong with the way your brain sends pain signals to your body.
Hi Butterfly72
I really am so genuinely sorry to read this my friend, and as the others have said it may be best to get this checked out just to have other medical conditions ruled out of the equation. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
I get this at the beginning of a migraine, you can get some symptoms but no headache apparently. Do please get it checked though.
Thank you to all for your replies, I do get aura headaches as well , so I think a visit to the doctors is the best thing to do x x
