Hi everyone. I'm new to this site. I have fibromialga and ostiartheritis. I'm having a bad day today. My hands and feet are very painful. My pain killers are not working. If I take the pain killers I just sleep all the time.
Hi : Hi everyone. I'm new to this site... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Hi
Babsey , Hi and welcome!!Sorry to hear your still in pain even after meds. The only thing I can suggest is speaking with GP about it.Wishing you the best!! Peck.🐤
Hi Babsey
Welcome to the forum, I'm sure you will gain some valuable insight from it. I too have Fibro, osteoarthritis and a degenerative disease of the spine, it's not easy cooing with the pain but at least our pain killers give you some sleep, that's a luxury which I get very little of. It's not much help but I usually try a fairly hot bath to help with the pain.

Hi there
Welcome to the forum
You have found a place full of wonderful kind, compassionate people. Since I joined the forum I have made some truly lovely lifelong friendships, and I hope that you do too.
You may like to have a look at our mother site for lots of interesting and useful information on Fibromyalgia fmauk.org
Many of our members also have osteoarthritis as well as Fibro.
I am sorry to hear your pain meds aren't working. Do you mind me asking how long you've been taking them? The drowsy feeling that so often comes with many meds does wear off after a while, providing you take the meds regularly.
It would be a good idea for you to make an appointment to see your GP. He or she can offer you a variety of things to help with your pain. If you haven't already been you can be referred to a Pain Clinic (who deal with medication), a Pain Management Clinic (a Clinic that helps you to learn how to deal with your pain), Physio and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). which is a talking therapy with a psychologist.
You can ask your GP if you can try a different pain killer. Not all of them make you feel drowsy. Unfortunately Fibro is tailor made so it is a case of trial and error until you find the right meds that work for you.
For some of us the pain is severe and the best we can hope for is to take pain meds to help us live some sort of normal life.
I look forward to chatting with you again. If you need any help navigating the forum, give me a shout.
Wishing you less pain and more peace

You are so right, but people who don't understand look down on you for taking meds for pain. I would be in the bed all day if it was not for my meds.
I have no support, my family does not understand this illness because they are able to get up and go!
I just love them all from a distance and keep praying.
My heart is hardened!
Just like to say welcome to the forum and look forward to your future posts. BlueMermaid3 has given you good links and advice so I won't say any more only that sometimes you ahve to try several painkillers or combunations of same until you find one that can take the edge off the pain but lets you function at the same time. Good luck with everything.x
Hi babsey and welcome to our lovely group we are all in petty much the same boat here , so we usually know what you are going through as most of us have or are going through the same sort of thing . I do hope you find some medication that works for you but as the others have said it can be a case if trial and error till you find one that suits you . Also if you are not taking the meds that knock you out and make you sleep all the time , you will find a lot of us suffer with lack of sleep and are online most of the time so weather its day or night you will always find someone here ready to chat . So once again welcome a painfree sleep filled night is wished for you xxx
Hi
I am sure that you are going to be happy that you joined this lovely site.
Everyone is so lovely and helpful here, they post suggestions are always ready to help and support you or listen if you need a moan.
I think talking to people who are suffering with the same problems helps you feel like your not alone.
I was up last night with pain in my legs and today am suffering with intense pain in my hands and feet. The soles of my feet are very hot too. I cannot suggest anything sadly other than Volterol gel, which I use. I take extra vits and magnesium and hemp tabs too. Someone did suggest that magnesium oil rubbed in helps.
Anyway, I can see you've had lots of replies and suggestions already.
Wishing you a better day tomorrow.
Take care and best wishes 😊
Hi Babsey I'm sorry to hear you are in so much pain. We all have various illnesses but share the horrible Fibro. There is always someone to chat to here, I hope you will find the kindness and support given helps. Sending you kind thoughts and squishy cuddles.

Hi Babsey
Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are suffering and struggling and I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.
All my hopes and dreams for you

Why not try something other than pills?? soak your feet in a bowl of warm water and add a salt like radox, the same with your hands-soak them in your small sink- if you can tolerate it put some marbles in your bowl and roll your feet over the marbles- pat hands and feet dry and apply some voltarol gel all over and put socks on feet and white gloves on your hands at night. I find this quite soothing. You can buy voltarol/diclofenic creams and gels, if it works ask doc for some as its cheaper from their than over the counter. Best Wishes from Nurse Gladys Emanuel(open all hours)
