Can I relieve this pain in my rib cage??

I'm feeling really under the weather. Fibro flare up.

I've got the usual, aching everywhere, extremely tired. But the one thing I have that's driving me insane is the pain in my ribs. I've had this before but never this bad. I keep rocking trying to relieve it, took pain killers, nothing! Please help.

Are you sure that it's ribs pain as opposed to chest pain. If you have very painful chest pain, then you should dial 999 for an ambulance asap.

Have you been diagnosed with chostochondritis .. One of the common symptoms of fibro... I have it all the time ... Co dydramol used to space me out so I didn't feel it so bad but now I can't take codeine I just rest up with hot packs until it dies down to a bearable pain...

If you haven't been diagnosed I would mention it to your GP and he may be able to help you out re meds....

Good luck

I get Chostochronditis too,Ibuprofen is good if you are able to take it,the last bout of it I had to take Morphine,I strongly recommend you see your GP or another Dr,lots of rest,oh and tiger balm rubbed gently over the area of pain is wonderfully warming and soothing, hope you feel better soon,it is a most painful thing to have, you have my utter sympathy, Hugs sent your way xxx

I am suffering pain in side muscles, under ribs and shoulder blades, have had in one or other but is all three at moment so sympathize with you, this is about my 3rd week of it. Have been given a different painkiller (can't remember name off hand) for joint pain that I take at night as cocodomol doesn't really make much difference to me, I tend to sleep with 4 pillow arranged around me which js a bit more comfortable, and heat packs help me, x

I have suffered with pain in my rib cage area for a good many years now I was referred to se the pain specialist who ruled out fibro but thinks it could be Neuropathic pain but isn't fibro. It doesn't matter what pain tablets I take nothing works! But every 6 months I have a procedure that heats the nerve so eases the pain. So I understand how you must feel. You must see your Gp for advice. Good luck. Aisha x

I get this on and off, have it at the moment and nothing seems to be helping. My GP says it is muscle spasms and inflammation of the tissue between the ribs.

If yours is really bad this time I would recommend you see your GP if you can just to be safe..

I get my rib pain in the back & sides. Not too bad at the moment but flared a couple of weeks ago. I have a massage pad that sits on a chair. It does a rolling massage & a shiatsu kneading type of massage over the whole back & two height adjustable ones for your shoulders that you can have going at the same time as the back or turn off. It also has heat for each one. This I find helps enormously. It is very strong & feels painful at first ( but you needn't sit hard back against it, if you need it lighter at first). I find it painful for the first few minutes but then it starts to give me wonderful relief & if I use it for 30 minutes, the pain usually goes completely, even around the sides of my ribs by making my back relax, i suppose. I'm not sure if I am allowed to say the name, but it really does work for me so I will name it, its by HomeMedics, it cost me £150 3 or 4 years ago. Think you can get them a bit cheaper online now or sometimes seen them on EBay much cheaper. Sorry moderators if you need to take off the brand name, but the relief it's given me, I would like to share in the hope of helping people.

Hello ther,,, I am so sorry you have had to suffer this pain.. I really feel for you.. I too have this , Also in a flare feeling so poorly and then a new symptom..all my ribs on the left were killing me, it hurt to move , it hurt to breath,, I cried with the pain.... having suffered two days I thought maybe it is my lungs or heart.. I had an emergency app with my doctor, he checked me all over, listened to my lungs....To my amazement, my doctor said, that not only was my left lung in spasm, but all my intercostal muscles too... He said that the Fribro can hit any part of the body that has a muscle or tendons.. I was given mornphine for the painb and told to rest... it took about three weeks before the pain totally disserpated .. truely hope you a pain free day gentle hugs xx
