The last time I had a massage I had what they called a therapeutic massage. BIG MISTAKE!! My shoulders and arms were burning the next day. My anxiety was through the roof!!
Yesterday I had a relaxation massage. I left actually feeling better. I thanked her and almost was in tears. My arms and back were feeling good.
Be careful with who you let do the massage. Make sure they are reputable. Make sure the person knows you have fibromyalgia when you schedule. If they are not sure what to do with you, say I'm not sure and I'll call you back. Then find someone else.

I am genuinely delighted to read that you found your massage so therapeutic and I sincerely hope that you can experience more of the same. I also want to sincerely thank you for your sound advice. I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck.
The only one I let give me one is my daughter! I have made the mistake of letting someone give me one and was so sore I could barely walk. I will take your advice if I let someone else touch me.
I am a qualified masseuse; but the Fibro makes it impossible for me to work at it. Often folk don't realise that there is a difference between Therapeutic and Relaxation massage. Please make sure your masseuse is properly trained and has Public Liability Insurance.
Well... I didn't realize that difference when I went until the pain set in. The next time I went back to the masseuse I spoke to them and made sure they knew about the fibromyalgia. She gave me a relaxation massage and I was great!!
