I had an amazing back massage on Friday. It helped reduce the pain in my neck, shoulders and back all weekend.I even managed to walk for an hour with my husband and our sons' dog,Sunday morning. The best I have felt in ages. I would recommend you give it a try. I am going to treat myself to another one soon.

That sounds soooo good. Should we tell them we have fibro if we book one? Sounds daft but I'm sure I'll shout as soon as someone touches me lol.

Yes,i explained about the fibro. It was just blissful and no tpainful at all,the massage takes the stress away and unfreezes my shoulder which easily goes into a spasm if I stay in the same position for too long. Give it a go.

hello avarose I`m garyNI

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 7-8yrs ago . I`m still working although have been close to been medically retired a few years ago as took 6months off in 1 period when i was really bad. I was told to try and keep doing regular exercise such as going for a walk or going to a gym trying cycling or walking on a treadmill. I have a friend who is a good sports physio and i find getting a sports massage massage can really help. although i get a full body massage with a mixture of oil he makes up I am tired and drained afterwards but i feel more at ease and relaxed and pain eases for a while he treats me in my house whenever i ask for an appointment . I`m lucky hes very cheap for what he does. I get a full body massage which take around 50-60mins each time and i feel looser and better for it and it ease my pain.i just book him the day before i want the treatment sometimes it will be once a fortnight other times once a month.I`m also seeing a chirpractor for back matainance which is like correcting posture etc i see him once a month and he sorts out my spine etc my sports physio also recommended to me that a good thing to do is if your able to get in and out of a bath is to put mustard powder in the bathwater when running it and lay and soak in it and the heat from the water and mustard powder helps relax and ease the muscle pain that we feel.

I have a massage every three weeks its funny because this really helps and as long as its a stretch or a medium massage I can cope, yet stand and talk to me and touch my arm as you laugh omg the pain.

I stopped of a a service station a few years back and sat in one of those massage chairs oh wow fab I had another two hours drive so this got me through an hour half then I started to hurt I arrived home and I was in so much pain, the next day I couldnt get out of bed the muscle were that bad I defo would not go on them again.

Hi all, my boyfriend is studying massage, he started doing it to help me and we've seen such positive health benefits he's now going to set up his own mobile massage business. I rate massage over any other therapy for fm because unlike things like physio which tend to treat specific injuries it treats you head to toe. It also helps with stress levels of course too! I think you should definitely tell your masseuse you have fm, massages can be quite a work out for the muscles of a normal person, for fm sufferers your treatment may need to be adjusted so its not quite as intense.

Hi. Tried a back massage but I am afraid it is not for me. Any contact seems to just bring the nerve endings to just under the skin and even clothes drive me crazy. Not been able to wear anything on my legs for the last 15 years because of this problem. This message doesn,t sound very positive I know but it is something to be aware of. Best Wishes Keep Smiling

kathy. i have had a massage every other week for the last 12 years and she has got me out of the wheel chair and on two sticks and now i can go with just one for a short while, the pain is bearable if i remember to breath and relax!! as much as i can,! she is fully qualifed uses red light things and such to help move the knots in the muscles as well as her touch.also she gives me the chance to rid myself of all pressures that come with people who say that you should "pull yourself together "and its all in" your mind"but have not found a way to get around the "fibro fog" which makes me forget thingsand make silly mistakes wrong way ,wrong time, wrong place!!!! keep smiling and try laughing at the pain!it helps me.
