Hip injections?: I saw my hip surgeon... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Hip injections?
Yes, I had 2 of these, prior to having a hip replacement. I think my surgeon liked to do them to be absolutely sure that the painn was coming from the arthitic pain (and not being referred pain from spine for example). I got good pain relief, albeit temporarily for 2-3months, so confirmed the diagnosis really. I went on to have a THR in Sep 2011. Good luck, x
Thank you for replying sunny girl oh good pain relief for a little while roll on hip injection x
My neighbour has had several injections, prior to her hip surgery and found them very helpful to start with, but as the arthritis got worse the relief they gave got less, so then the surgery was scheduled very swiftly.
Hope this helps a bit
Foggy x
Thank you fibro foggiest it's showing severe to moderate on X-ray whatever that mean! So looking forward to injection x
Hi again
In that case I would think you will be seen fairly quickly. I have arthritis in my shoulders and had one replaced four years ago, but because they'd been treating it as "another part in the jigsaw puzzle of fibro" I ended up being bone on bone which was a complete nightmare .
Anyway I hope you get your surgery sooner rather than later

hi yes i have had both a nerve block onjection in my grion and a lidocaine infusion unfortunatly neither of them worked for me i have been like a human guniea pig for years now referred to several differant people now after seeing a gyne for severe thigh, hip, grion and pelvic pain they think i may have endometreosis they dont want to operate at the mo so ive been put on the mini pill sstill in violent pain and cant see any end in sight and so the battle goes on take care joanne x
I had Lidnocaine infusion both as injection & short term drip, 2 hours, in my shoulder following surgery but unfortunately they didn't help.
I was lucky enough to be part of a pain relief group when they used to use Lidnocaine Infusions for Fibro. These involved a weeks stay in hospital and a drop for 6 days, each day the drip would last got between 7 or 8 hours and each day there was a bigger ratio of Lidnocaine to base fluid. The first 6 kicked in about a month after having them and felt like bionic woman in comparison. To what I had. We had to go every 6 months and I had these for about 10 years but towards the end realised that I was getting no relief so decided to stop them, I believe they have stopped the process all together now but I will always remember my bionic woman experience lol.
Hope they find something to help with your hip pain
Karen
Thank you Karen x
