has anyone had a hip replacement and been far worse afterwards. Sooo depressed. Not sleeping. In constant pain. 50 times worse. Original pain but with many more in different areas. I’m sure the physio did me some harm. Anyone else had this.

Sorry that you’re in so much pain. I haven’t experienced joint replacement but noticed no one else has replied yet. How long has it been since your op? Could it be nerve damage or scarring from the surgery that’s causing it? Sorry I can’t be more help. Maybe try posting in the arthritis group and you might get more help x

Not a hip replacement but ankle surgery, and yes I did feel pretty awful for a while. Unfortunately any sort of surgery seems to upset my fibro. Even the pain relief injections I had for my spine set the fibro off. It's a fine line between not upsetting the fibro too much and doing enough of the exercises to make sure the hip replacement is successful. Has the physio suggested hydrotherapy?

I had a hip replacement many years ago and had horrendous pain and felt lousy about a week after surgery. GP came out and found that I had an infection in the hip. Soon sorted with medication. After that i still had pain but it wasn't horrendous. Maybe see your GP. I found that after physio the pain was worse but over time it eased off.I know how you feel re lack of sleep as recently had total knee replacement and the pain is far worse than my hip one but it'll settle down eventually. I knew the pain was going to be worse than the hip one as I'd researched it.

I do hope you're pain starts to ease off soon

Thank you. It does seem to be physio that makes me worse but keep being told how important it is I do it. I have no gluteus apparently and need to strengthen them. Yhe pain better be worth it.

Sorry I meant to say do try and do the exercises and speak to your physio as they may be able to adjust your exercises slightly. The physio adjusted mine as I was struggling big time due to having CFS and it has helped. Yes you will feel depressed for a bit, your body has been through a lot. I'm in the same boat
