I am gearing up for my first FET and have been prescribed Prontogest intramuscular injections to take every other day. I’ve had two chemical pregnancies from my previous two transfers hence the progesterone increase (I’ve gone from the standard two pessaries in round 1, to the pessaries + 1 Lubion injection a day in round 2…and have now reached the intramuscular injection club, lucky me!).
I’m also going to be taking 2 baby aspirin per day, 1 Clexane injection per day and the standard Cyclogest pessaries again.
Just wondering if anyone else has been on the same protocol and how it went? I’m particularly nervous about the intramuscular injections (as is my partner!) – any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hey love! So....the Prontogest injections are not a total breeze 😉To help, warm the vial between your hands before injecting, put a warm compress on your bum cheek and leave on for 30 seconds, then swab with an alcohol pad and do the injection. Inject the liquid very slowly and wait a few seconds before taking it out. When it’s out, press on the spot and after massage the cheek for a good 2-3 minutes (it will help distributing the product in the muscle). Put a small plaster and you’re good to go 😃Have the nurses shown your partner how to do them? If not there’s plenty of tutorial videos on YouTube that you can search....my husband literally freaked out the first time but after 2-3 injection became a pro 😃

You will get used to them. Definitely make sure to warm the vial first - I pop it in my bra for 15-20 minutes beforehand but make sure it doesn’t fall out and smash on floor (this happened to me last round of IVF!). I get all needles and things out, alcohol wipe my bum (do alternate sides each time), lie face down on bed, my husband tries to make me laugh then he inserts the needle. They say you should have a dart action so your husband needs to be firm and confident but I think that’s really difficult for non-medical and needle phobic people (like my husband). First few times I kept wincing, husband now holds me still! Draw needle back once in to check for blood, then inject slowly, wait a few seconds once in then take needle out, press on injection site with tissue then massage it for minutes afterwards - helps disperse oil. Good luck - you’ll find your own way and they really aren’t too bad!
I was on the same protocol plus estrogen tables oral and vaginal . No aspirin though.
I was so scare of the progesterone injections! Bit actually it wasn't too bad. Ask you let nurse to draw with a pen the area on your bum and make sure you keep on doing it at home.
In the end I preferred them to clexane injections
I'm still on crinone suppositories and it's very cumbersome
