Laparoscopy recovery...

Hi girls! I had my first laparoscopy last week and I've changed the three dressings on my tummy twice so far. I've just taken the dressings off and while two of the wounds are fine and recovering well I've noticed the one in my belly button is a little red, it's also a little sore and weeping a little. I realise this might mean it is infected but maybe its normal for the belly button wound to do this ?? Maybe I should get it checked out?

Also, I was wondering if anyone else has had a Mirena coil fitted to help prevent endometriosis from growing back? If anyone has, could you let me know your experience/recovery and how well the coil prevented pelvic pain - I've had terrible post surgery pain and hoping it will stop very soon!

Hi there, bless you, I hope your recovering ok and resting lots, I hope you're not in to much discomfort, it can take a little while for you're belly button to heal, but do keep an eye on it, I have had 3 laps now and you can always rinse or bathe it with cooled boiled salt water, to help the healing, but if its changes I would prob get it checked, but I haven't had the coil, but had zoladex to help reduce symptoms, I hope this helps a little, kirdy x

I have the Mirena and it works exceptionally well for me. Because I'm progesterone intolerant, I only keep it in for about 9 months before taking a 3-4 month break, but that balance works very well for me and I'm now largely symptom free. I tried the oral pill but the dosage of progesterone was higher than I could cope with.
