Hi all. I’ve recently had the laparoscopy surgery (a week ago today) and was advised to take my dressings off today. Did anyone else take their dressings off this soon? Also, how long does it usually take for the stitches to dissolve? My belly button incision looks bruised (yellow kind of colour bruising) Is this normal? Thanks in advance.

Hi. All of that sounds exactly like mine. They took my dressings off after 4 days. As long as there is nothing weeping, they seem pretty keen to let it air with no dressings. I could see the ends of my stitches for a few days after they took the dressings off and then they fell off without me noticing.

The bruising is normal as they were moving their equipment against your tummy to see/reach everything. Mine took nearly two weeks to completely disappear.

Good luck with everything.

Hi! Thank you so much for your reply. That’s definitely put my mind at ease. I’m overwhelmed with all the helpful information I’ve been receiving since joining this group yesterday! Good luck to you too! X

That sounds normal to me after having two laps.

Just watch your stitches to make sure they dissolve. Mine didn't and I'd forgotten that if they don't dissolve you need them taking out! One of my wounds got an infection as a consequence, which needed treating with antibiotics right away. If there's any seepage at all go see your doc, it's likely infected if it smells bad.

Hope this helps!

Hello! I was still sore and swollen after a week too, nothing to worry about it’s normal. I don’t drive so I wouldn’t know about that, but I’d leave it at least 2 weeks if not more before you start lifting stuff. It will be 3 weeks on Wednesday since my op and I’m feeling much better now (as in I can lift stuff etc no problem) it all depends on how you feel and when you feel ready, don’t rush in to it and don’t over do it. Hope you have a speedy recovery xx
