Anyone currently or previously been on Prostap? Finding it pretty rough. Been on Zoladex for 15 months then straight onto Prostap. 2nd jab due in couple of weeks. Does it get better?

Prostap
I’m on Prostap for fibroids. I had my third injection last Friday and I’ve had to take time off due to fatigue and generally feeling unwell. I had really heavy bleeding with massive clots (almost palm size) after the second injection but that seems to be settling now although I’m now anemic and back on iron tablets. I’m considering not having the 4th injection because I’m really struggling at the moment. I’ve been bleeding since my first injection at the beginning of May. The bleeding is now more like spotting since my 3rd injection but I feel really fatigued as though I’m coming down with something. My consultant said it’s normal but it’s really affecting me.
Hi
Sorry to hear you’re having a rough time. It’s hard to explain to someone who hasn’t been through it just how rough it is. After 13 months the zoladex stopped working and I’ve gone straight onto Prostap with no break. Periods lasting 35-37 days with a 2-9 day break in between. Thankfully last blood test showed not anaemic. Really can’t wait till I have a hysterectomy. Hope you get sorted soon.
Sorry to hear you're having rough time. Can completely relate! Was on Zoladex for years and then it stopped working.... no-one believed me so stopped it altogether...worst move ever! Specialist then suggested Prostap....OMG the side effects.....feel ok for 10-12 days and then boom intense nausea for days at a time!
Have you started any HRT with it? I found the patches were really good and helped with most of the side effects!
I’m so sorry you’re having a hard time. I have been on ProStep injections for 13 months and unfortunately it seems like it’s going to be for the foreseeable. It’s hard work isn’t it x
it sounds awful your period should stop soon
that was my experience, I haven’t had a period in over 12 months xx
hi again MrsPaddingtonBear ☺️- I would say read the package insert and know all the potential side effects, and keep a lookout for them all the way through your months on Prostap they say if you get them they should subside, unless an allergic reaction, but I don’t think it’s always true.
I just did 6 months on Prostap (last injection beginning of May)and did not have a good time of it. First 2-3 weeks I expected the worst of the symptoms of adjustment and it was really tough! Dizziness, thumping heartbeat, fluctuations in blood sugar, nausea, and at an intensity which made it harder. These mostly passed or reduced in intensity. The abdominal pain did seem to start reducing though.
Then in month 2 I started with new side effects of joint and muscle pain, which lasted the remainder of the 6 months. At first I thought I was Vit D deficient so started a supplement, it helped a bit but the pain got worse. GP did blood test for rheumatoid factor, came back clear. The pain was eventually bad enough to make me avoid stairs at home, or just walking anywhere if I could help it. And I was like a geriatric lady when I did attempt stairs (not the 50 I am). So my gynae took me off it and agreed to laparoscopy and remove my ovaries (it was supposed to happen yesterday but I got food poisoning last weekend so needed to delay it)
