Prostap: Hiya I’ve been on prostap since... - Endometriosis UK
Prostap
hi. I had 6 months of prostap and I was told to use condoms throughout as if you became pregnant with it in your system it could cause alot of issues. Not sure if it it stops ovulation I didn't ask.
do you have a number to ring for advice? Might be worth getting in touch to clarify for your own peace of mind. Hope its helping, I found it brilliant. Xx
I asked everyone the same thing when I started my injections six months ago, there was a lady who managed to get pregnant while on the prostap and it can be quite dangerous so it is to be avoided. Best of luck 🤞 x
I was told it was to put my body into a menopausal state but was warned at same time to take no chances while on these injections. I was only given a 3 mts course but it took almost double that for my periods to return. So I continued to use condoms until my period came back as it was clear with all the side effects my system was still full of the drug . Ironic given that we have been trying for years to have a baby but I was so scared of getting pregrant and causing the poor baby any deformities I just couldn't chance it. I have just had my 2nd lap for endo and thank God this surgeon didn't want me on this drug.. Was very badly advised first time around regarding the side effects I would never have taken these injections if I knew the effect they can have. So can only imagine the damage they could do to a poor baby. Please continue to use the condoms.
Thanks yeah I have used the condoms but it’s not that I’m asking it’s just that I wanted to know if it stops my ovulation that’s it....
But have you had any pains around your lower back I’m still on my 3month dose...
But thanks for ur reply really makes me feel better x
I did have back pain but not as a result of taking prostrap. The pain in my lower back along side heavy periods were really my only signs of endo. The chocolate cysts had pushed my womb, tubes and ovaries out of place and forced them back on my bowel and spine.
If you are not long over your surgery you back pain mayb just everything moving back into place. But if it continues to get worse I would Def go back to the doctor. My sister was also given prostrap and had no effects so it does effect people in different ways..always worth double checking if your worried.
From memory Prostap inhibits oestrogen so Endo deposits shrink -so I agree with the other ladies who have answered you. But a quick call to Endometriosis UK will give you the answers you require. Take Care
It does stop ovulation if you are on it for long enough, yes, but it probably won’t happen immediately. It may take a few months, which is why the advice is to use contraception.
