Hysterectomy & bladder issues

Hi,

I’m 42 and had a full hysterectomy last week. Op went very well but then I got a UTI which has been horrific. My gp prescribed fosformycin (powder) which works in 2-3 days and has helped hugely but this evening I feel like I’m going backwards. Pain in pelvis and feel like I need to pee and poo but nothing much happening.

Is this normal and does it last long. I was so happy with the surgery but feel like this is just setting me back a bit.

Thanks xx

Did you have open surgery? I didn't make it out of hospital until end of week and was hardly able to move, they have to move you insides out the way and said it can take a while to get back to normal. I didn't have UTI but needed lots of peppermint, dulcoease, prunes and curry type food once I started eating. If it wasnt open surgery recovery is quicker, but I would play safe and call GP surgery again to check as it's hard to know what's normal after an op xxx

Thank you. I had keyhole surgery and was discharged after 2 days. I had a fairly good day yesterday but today not so much. Guess I just need to let my body heal and hope I’m over the worst of the UTI.

Take care xx
