I had a laparoscopy yesterday as well as hysteroscopy and cystoscopy and they found endometriosis on my pelvic wall both sides as well as a cyst on my right ovary which was removed. I was in extreme pain yesterday when I woke up and no pain relief they gave me really took the edge off, I ended up going home to which I was sick about 7-8 times. I have been feeling nauseous all day today and in a lot of pain still with the slightest movements even after taking tramadol, paracetamol and naproxen as well as I keep getting really short of breath occasionally whenever I start talking and I keep feeling the need to cough stuff up but can’t because of the pain in my belly. The hospital told me this was normal when I called yesterday but I had the same surgery 4 years ago and never suffered like I have this time around. Even when I don’t move I keep getting such sharp stabbing pains in my stomach. Has anyone else suffered Like this?? Is this normal?? There’s bruising on the outside of my stomach as well and the surgeon told me where I was slim he struggled getting the tools through my stomach muscles so there would be a lot of internal bruising

Hello! I had my lap on the 17 Feb and was kept in over night on a drip with pain killers and anti sickness drugs as I also did a lot of vomiting after. Did they send you home with anything like dihydrocodeine? I don’t get on well with drugs like that but took half before bed each evening. Or if you can’t get someone to get co-codamol for you. I still have occasional sharp pains now if I do too much.

It does ease, though it may not seem like it. The pain when breathing eased for me after around two days, don’t take this as fact but I think it’s cos your diaphragm gets irritated with the gas, which may also refer up to your shoulder. I also had a really annoying cough / throat issues..

For the gas, I took wind-ease / wind settlers, peppermint tea, and drank gallons of flavoured sparkling water.

I really hope you start to feel better soon x

Hello! I got sent home with tramadol and laxido but that was all, the pain and sickness hasn’t changed really, if anything I’m finding it harder to move today than I did yesterday, the pains worse and also whenever I start speaking I get breathless very quickly. My main worry is I went for a wee not long ago which was a bit of a struggle pushing but there was yellowy/ green discharge as well as blood which is to be expected but the green and yellow is new today. I’ve been having a lot of peppermint tea which has been helping a lot with passing gas which is great, I will definitely give the sparkling water a go but did you find that the pains got a lot worse each day before they got better? I’m just getting scared as my surgeon didn’t really speak to me much and just how different I’ve reacted this time compared to the last lap I had.

Thankyou I hope your feeling a lot better now xx

I think if you’re having these new issues, especially with having a wee, you should give 111 a call. If your bladder is retaining urine that definitely needs to be looked at.

My pain got worse for about three days, presumably as the stronger drugs I was given by IV all night in hospital wore off. I am still taking paracetemal and ibuprofen regularly and can feel it the minute they wear off.

For your own peace of mind I would call 111. Your body has been through a huge shock but I understand your worries as I’m the same. Keep resting with occasional leg stretches and keep us updated x

Hi,

I had my fourth laparoscopy yesterday. The last op in 2011 they had to cut me open, and had an ovary and Fallopian tube removed. I also bled a lot that time. So makes future ops trickier, there’s a lot of scar tissues. Was a miracle they did it keyhole. Had been warned it most likely wouldn’t be done by keyhole. Thankfully the surgeon was excellent. They actually had two gyny and one bowel surgeon in there. Endo was stuck to my bowel too. I was allowed to come home last night. Hardly slept because of the pain and it’s really bad today. I was expecting it though, you do sometimes get it worse, especially if they’ve had to so quite a bit. My remaining tube was twisted. The breathing is most likely the shoulder tip pain. Try a heat pad on your chest and one on your stomach if you can. It does help. They did tell me yesterday if I had any coloured discharge to call them. The hysteroscopy can leave you prone to infection. So the fact you have discharge and still sick, defiantly either call the day unit or go to A&E.

Fourth?! Oh god I hope your okay and have a speedy recovery! The wound in my belly button they sealed with stitches but the other 2 were sealed with skin glue? Will I still be able to apply a hot water bottle to them? I’m a bit nervous really as my stomach is so tender to touch and it’s rather bruised on the outside. I just feel a bit silly panicking because I have my mum looking after me (someone who has never suffered with bad periods and even made it through the menopause without realising!) and she keeps telling me there’s nothing wrong and I should be feeling better by now but I don’t at all it feels worse with every day that goes past and I keep feeling so shaky and sick :’( I’m going to call my GP tomorrow and get an appointment with the gynaecologist there who usually sees me and explain everything to her and let her assess it but I just keep getting scared by the amount of pain I’m still left in and the fact no matter what painkillers I take nothing seems to touch the pain :-( I’m 22 and this is only my 2nd laparoscopy and I get quite nervous and scared easily anyway because I seem to have the worst luck with anything to do with that area, nothing seems to be straight forward :-(

I’m thinking about asking for some sleeping tablets tomorrow at the doctors as I’ve probably only had about 7 hours sleep since Friday :-(

It’s pretty painful, but I expected it. Definitely get an appointment at your gps and they will check you over. If you can’t then go to A&E. Some light bleeding is normal, but coloured discharge definitely needs to be looked at. It is going to be painful for several days, but it will get easier. But obviously if you have an infection, you’ll need antibiotics. Talk to the doctor about how anxious you’re feeling. If they can’t give you anything. Get some natural sleeping tablets like nytol or supermarket equivalent. You’ll be fine putting heat on your stomach, it really does help. Ideally a wheat bag if you have one. It will really help on your chest too for the shoulder tip pain too. Even though it’s painful, make sure you move around regularly. It helps get rid of the gas and will make you feel more comfortable in the long run. Let me know how you get on at the doctors.

SusanAY78 thankyou for all of your advice, I’ve got a hot water bottle on my shoulder at the moment and it’s lovely and really making the pains ease off a bit. I’m a little bit too nervous to lay it on my belly though just because it’s very very tender to touch. Yeah if I can’t get an appointment for tomorrow morning/early afternoon I will go to A&E and get it checked out as it’s beginning to itch a little as well (I’m so sorry if I’m being graphic I’m really open with this kind of stuff, I’ve been told off for it before 😳) I will keep you posted on what they say. I honestly love this community I've just found it so helpful today with really putting my mind at ease and being able to speak openly to other women that genuinely understand xxx

Hot water bottle maybe a bit heavy, see if you can get yourself a wheat bag, they are brilliant and mould to you. Perfect for period pain. My stomach is very tender, but am able to stand that and it’s really helping. Sounds like you definitely need checking by a doctor. Glad it’s helped ease your mind.

So I have had my doctors appointment today and the wound in my belly button is infected so I have antibiotics for that as well as sterile water bottle things to clean the wound with and more dressings. Also what I thought was the bruising on my belly turns out to be scabbed over burns which is extremely odd??... we can’t work out what on earth that is from and I am waiting for her to get in touch with my surgeon to find out what’s happening About a follow up as I have been left in the dark really, no hormonal treatments or anything to carry on with to help prevent the Endo and still none the wiser as to why I have a constant urge to wee after him doing a cystoscopy. He is apparently an endometriosis specialist and he said Endo doesn’t cause heavy bleeding which was one of his main concerns but also heard nothing else about this... just another waiting game but thought I’d give you all an update ❤️
