7cm ovarian cyst discovered after laparoscopy?

I had a laparoscopy and treatment for endometriosis on 10/10/19, in which they removed endo from my peritoneum, my surgeon said it was a moderate amount. I also had the Kyleena coil fitted whilst I was under general anaesthetic.

Since my op, the first couple of weeks were fine, then came my first period which was horrendous in terms of pain, worse than my endometriosis pain before. I've not bled properly since that period but I have done on and off a little bit. This past week has been 10x worse than November (pain wise).

I had an external and internal ultrasound done today as they were concerned that the coil may have misplaced itself; the coil is in the right place which is good, but they've now discovered that I have a 7cm cyst on my right ovary?! My surgeon didn't say anything about a cyst after my operation, she said my ovaries and womb were healthy. Could this cyst have grown since my op? And is this what is causing me the severe pain?

Sorry for the long back story, just wondered if anybody has had a similar experience? The problems seem never ending!

I had lap and had cysts removed off both ovaries but had a scan 7 weeks after lap and had a new cyst. Had the pain and thought it felt like a cyst and I was right. I would think this cyst is a new one after your period, the surgeon would have removed the cyst during the surgery. Feel like I’ve got another one on the other side now. It’s horrible x

What sort of pain is it that you have with the cysts? It’s so hard to tell whether it’s the coil, endometriosis or cyst that is causing me the pain!

Do you think they’ll want to remove the cyst? As it’s classed as large? X

The pain I was having was sharp/stabbing/aching pain over left ovary. A sickening pain and my side ached. It didn’t feel like endo pain to me. My cyst wasn’t as big as yours. I do have an area of fluid from my lap so that’s the only reason I was scanned. All the consultant said to me is it will go down and disappear by it’s self. I have another scan 3 months after the one I’ve just had to see if it’s gone. I would think that it will just be monitored. As long as it’s not a chocolate cyst. The pain only lasted about a week for me and the right side only came on yesterday.

If you are unsure what will be done and are struggling with the pain I’d get In touch with your consultant for advice. I was quite shocked that a cyst appeared with me just 7 weeks after my lap x

I get mild cramps most days and my abdomen is always tender, but the severe pain comes around my period time.

I just can’t believe something so big can grow that quickly!

Can they tell if it’s an endometrioma from a scan?

Hoping to see the GP soon so I can see what will happen, I really thought everything would be better when I had my first lap and removal of endo, but it’s only gotten worse!

So frustrating! Hope your cyst goes down by itself Xx

My dear, that was such a stupid and superficial doctor, my God! Never ever go back to that doctor. How on earth they wont see a large cyst! O would make a big report to NHS about this, this is unaccceptable! And the coil.....is not too helpful. Search for a dedicated doctor and raise your concerns about what happenned to you 💛.

My consultant told me he could tell from the scan which kind of cyst it was. Can you get your consultants secretary email at all? Yes the periods are still horrendous even after the surgery. I thought it would help but it hasn’t with me x
