I don’t know if anyone can offer some advise or have a similar situation to me. I have an ovarian cyst on my right ovary that’s measuring about 6cm (last scan in August) which refilled after being drained from my first lap last year.
I have an appt with an endo consultant in 2 weeks time to discuss surgery but I’ve been spotting/bleeding for almost a month now and I keep getting sharp stabbing pains on that side frequently after having no pain.
I have been taking norethisterone 2 tablets a day for almost 2 months. First month was fine but this last month, my bleeding and now pain is no longer under control. I don’t know who to ask or where to go for advise so trying to push through until I see the consultant.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated x

Bless you sounds painful I had a large cyst which kept rupturing before my surgery and ended up in a and e a couple of times with the pain. My gp was great and prescribed coedine which helped - perhaps it would be worth getting in touch with yours? I hope you feel better soon xxx
Thank you for your response. What symptoms did you have when the cyst ruptured? I think pain wise I can manage it. It’s just the bleeding which I want to stop because it really gets me down. Hoping it will end soon but just struggling some days to stay positive x x
I had back and pelvic pain that increased in intensity and was really sharp to the point I couldn’t do anything or keep still until I had pain relief. The bleeding doesn’t sound right I’d definitely talk to your GP for some advice or call your consultants secretary to let them know your symptoms are worsening. I hope you get it under control soon. I know it’s hard but try and stay positive, there are things that can help, wishing you all the best xxx
I had an ovarian cyst and sharp pain on and off in the months before surgery - sharp enough to feel I had been stabbed in the side, pain which would curl me into a ball and make me sweat so I needed a shower once the pain subsided. Sharp pain prob lasted for about 5/10 mins. The good news is I have not had this pain since my ovary has been removed. I did not get bleeding but was on an injection at the time which simulated the menopause. It’s tough but hopefully the surgery will bring you relief
My pain hasn’t gotten to that level yet but it is similar to how you describe the on and off stab like pain. I had a similar to pain to that though before and I ended up in A&E. I’m really worried about having my ovary removed as I have no kids and would like some in the future. I’ve read that bleeding makes endo grow even more which is what worries me. Just praying my body can hold on until the surgery. Thank you for sharing and responding x
Hi, I'm experiencing similar symptoms to you and wondered if you had got any further with this since posting?
I had started with irregular bleeds last year (I've been on the pill for years so it was very unusual). I was referred for a scan and they found a cyst on my ovary. I had no idea as I had no pain. I was rescanned after 12 weeks and the cyst hadn't gone away as expected. I had changed pill at this point and the bleeding had stopped so they decided not to follow up on the cyst and to rescan in a year (due in August this year). I haven't experienced any symptoms for 8 months, and now the irregular bleeding has started again. I've been so anxious as the nurse seemed really concerned that this wasn't followed up on last year. She has referred me for another ultrasound to check on the cyst but there is a 5 week wait.
I'm also the same as you, extremely worried that this will affect my fertility in the future.
Hi. I did eventually see the consultant and I was due to have surgery last month but unfortunately my covid swab came back positive on the day of the procedure so that got cancelled. The consultant had suggested being put on Zoladex injections prior to surgery which he said would help with the bleeding. First month I had a proper period but it was the most horrendous I had ever had. But after that it completely stopped. I only had 2 injections. My last one was in December and I have not bled since then which I am completely chuffed by.
I am currently in limbo as I have not heard back about rebooking the surgery.
Like you the cyst never really gave me pain and didn’t know it was there until I had a scan. Is yours a chocolate cyst/endometrioma? After my first surgery, the cyst came back and the sonographer didn’t really follow up mine either because she said it was a “known issue”. We really end up having to fight and chase for the care we need. Hopefully this has been helpful and all the best with everything x
