First period after laparoscopy, in serious pain.

Hey Sweeties.

I had my Diagnostic Laparoscopy a month ago and my Gynaecologist did warn me this would be like the worst period in my life. Because of my Endometriosis I hadn’t bled for almost 2 years - I had all the other symptoms of a period just no bleeding, my body basically looks a mess inside from it. I’d go into more detail but I’m in agony.

I am used to pain, but never like this. Right now I am in severe agony down there I feel like someone is actively stabbing me and twisting the knife. I’m really sweaty and feel unbelievably sick. I was just wondering or more so hoping anyone could tell me if they felt this bad after their first period after surgery?

If it helps I am 19, have never had any kind of relationship, also have PKD, Gastroparisis, and Lupus.

Thank You.

Hey hun! Sorry to hear you are in so much pain :(, I can completely relate to this! I had my first period 4 weeks after my op and oh my god was not prepared for the pain, I had never experienced anything like it and felt like I was being scraped away at inside, I tried all the usual tricks to try and manage the pain but nothing seemed to help other than very strong pain relief and a hot water bottle (although it only touched the sides, can’t imagine what it would have been like without) I am now just coming on my second period which still feels incredibly painful but not quite as bad as the last one so I’m hoping it may improve over time! It does take a while for everything to settle down after surgery so hopefully you won’t go through one as bad as this on your next one! Hope you start to feel better soon xx

I honestly can’t thank you enough, I was close to just phoning the Hospital or an ambulance haha. That’s so similar to me, I’ve tried everything I usually do and nothing seems to be relieving it. I took some codeine they gave me for surgery and I’m still just in agony. That’s exactly how I feel, the scraping feeling is just so accurate. I’ve been trying to use a hot water bottle but I’m just so warm like I feel like my body is on fire but I usually get this hot when I’m in pain. Thank you so much again Sweetie, I hope you can feel better soon xxxxxx

Dis you get excision surgery or ablation? What kind of diagnostic surgery? Did the gyn remove ALL endometriosis? You are nor supposed to be in pain after a well-performed excision surgery. How come you didn't bleed for two years? Everything sounds very serious and not normal at all. Please provide more information

I had a diagnostic laparoscopy. They couldn’t remove all of my Endometriosis, my organs basically look like glue and too much of the tissue is fused(?) -sorry I don’t know the correct terms- with my organs. My Gynaecologist couldn’t completely explain why why I didn’t bleed for two years but she did say that some of my Endometriosis had moved to block my blood flow so eventually I just stopped producing eggs. This could also have been caused by the stress of my pain.

I understand now. If they didn't remove all endometriosis, then obviously you are still going to be in pain if not more due to the adhesions and inflammation caused my the surgery. These diagnostic surgeries are so pointless they make me MAD AS CRAZY!! I'm so sorry for you but unless you get excision surgery with a serious specialist you will continue being in pain. You need to get your organs unglued and free from adhesions and so on.

I know honestly, my heart dropped when they told me I have Endometriosis but could barely remove anything it just felt all so pointless... but thank you very much for your reply it has helped me a lot.
