Bowel stuck to uterus (16 weeks preg) and now unable to go to the bathroom with extreme/ painful constipation. Due to pregnancy or ?

I am nearly 16 weeks pregnant and after my last lap I was told 'my uterus is stuck to my bowel and retrograde'. I have been having 'severe constipation' sorry tmi. Only able to force myself after every 5 days with a lot of discomfort and then a bleed each time. I haven't changed my diet (was quite regular upto week 12) but on Progesterone cyclogest, injections, steroids and other drugs. Since stopping them after the scan I've had 'problems'. Not sure if this is coincidence or to do with the baby getting bigger?

Any ideas of suggestions/ reasons please. Drinking a glass of prune juice daily, eating fibre, fruit, veg and drinking a load of water. Midwife said it was nothing to do with the baby getting bigger.

Are you able to take some laxatives?

I'm taking lactulose daily, but it makes very little difference. Will ask midwife again.

I would say it is due to babe as the uterus is stretching and therefore pulling the bowel out of its ‘natural’ shape. I agree with last lady you need regular laxatives - see your gp and discuss with them. There’s several types of laxatives out here there and I recon you may need a combination of things.

Congratulations on the baby x

I think it has something to do with both of them being stuck together and the baby getting bigger. The midwife said 'it has nothing to do with the baby, it's your diet'. However, that hasn't changed, except I guess now I'm feeling like eating less. Many thanks for your congrats x

Fibrogel always works for me when I get backed up. It takes a couple of days to get into the system but if you have it daily it should make it easier. I used it after my lap to get my bowels working again.

Thank you. I may get some of that and give it a go. x
