Uti and OAB Following Laparoscopy

I had a laparoscopy over 2 weeks ago and have been suffering from bladder issues since the surgery (frequent urination, waking up hourly at night to pee, sudden urge to go). A little about my experience. My Dr. was very vague about the endometriosis removed, stating only that there were 2 small lesions (one on my uterus and one on the left side). I was in a lot of pain from the gas afterwards, not only in my shoulder, but also the entire right side of my abdomen/chest and back, which got worse when breathing in. I could only lay on my left side to get comfortable. That lasted for 4 days, even with the use of gas x, drinking a lot of water, and walking around. After the 4th day I developed visible blood in my urine, with no other symptoms. My Dr put me on Cipro. 2 days later I started experiencing a frequent urge to pee every 30 min to an hour, even during sleep. I tried otc azo, which didn't help. I went back to the Dr and provided a urine sample. I had blood in my urine but tested negative for bacteria. They gave me a prescription strength of Phenszopyridine, which didn't help. 3 days later I was back at the Dr. for a follow up. The Dr did a cystoscopy (so uncomfortable) and said everything looked fine. They gave me a different antibiotic (bactrim) and said I should feel better in a few days. That was Monday, and I am still urinating every hour. I have no burning, but I do have bloating and I started getting sharp pains in my lower right side (pubic region). Had anyone ever experienced bladder issues like this?

I had to go on antibiotics after my lap too because of a UTI - it was horrible and I suffered for about two weeks!

There’s been a lot going on and I guess your more prone to Infection if you’ve had some prodding about in those areas. It’s not nice and I 100% empathise.

They exaggerated the extent of my endo after my lap, I thought I was ready for the scrap heap tbh. When I saw the photos with another gyno (a year or so later after plucking the courage) there was hardly anything there! xx

Thanks for the reply. That makes sense, wish they would have put me on antibiotics as a preventative afterwards. This is the 2nd round of antibiotics, and while I do notice some minor improvements, I'm still going potty every hour. At least the nausea is getting better. Did you have frequent urination for the entire 2 weeks? It's been almost 3 weeks for me and its still going on :(

Yes I never felt like I’d emptied my bladder, it burned and my lower tummy burned too.

Literally, I’d be almost peeing the minute I was by the toilet every two-ten minutes.

If your antibiotics aren’t making an improvement you must go back to your doctor because it can go to your kidneys and that is dangerous - so keep in top of things xx

I have an appointment on Monday. Not sure what else they can do, my culture came back normal (no bacteria) but I do have blood in my urine. I don't have the typical uti symptoms other than the urge to go frequently.
