Hiya, good luck for Friday!
I would suggest big comfy pants and also some peppermint teabags to help with any shoulder tip pain
Also, I had trouble swallowing after the anaesthetic and wish I had opted for soup as my first meal after. Not sure if this happens to everyone, but my sandwich was tough!
This was my packing checklist when I had my lap last month 😊 Obviously you don't need everything on here (also ignore the medication section as that will be personal to you) but it's good to be prepared for a possible overnight stay! My non-negotiables were long nighties instead of pyjamas so nothing is touching your belly, a pillow to protect your stomach from the seatbelt on the way home, comfy pants in a bigger size than normal, crocs/slip on shoes so you don't need to bend down, your own pads (hospital ones are horrid), list of medication (the nurses will ask), lipbalm, water bottle, entertainment (book or ipad) as you may be waiting a while, phone charger, and mints & peppermint tea for the gas pain while you are waiting to be discharged!
Really hope this helps a bit lovely! Good luck with your op, I'm sure you will be fine but remember to breathe and ask as many questions as you need to💛
This is so helpful!
Aw I’m so glad lovely! Hope your surgery goes well if you’re waiting for one xxx
Just waiting for my first. I’ve had confirmation it’ll be expedited as urgent today due to my symptoms, so I’m now absolutely shitting myself 😂 it’s such a rollercoaster being desperate for a surgery and terrified of actually having to go through it x
Oh amazing that they are expediting your surgery!! They refused to expedite mine and then when I eventually had it they found loads of endo all over the place (including my diaphragm) so I'm glad you have pushed!! It really is a rollercoaster, I'm totally with you on that. Good lucky lovely🥰💛
How are you feeling now after your surgery are you recovering well? Xx
If I'm totally honest, I am not where I expected to be but I have come back to work (probably too soon tbh). I am having even worse bowel symptoms than before (although I'm wondering if that's because they removed endo from my bowel without a bowel/colorectal surgeon present) and I'm also in pain most days. I am definitely having less bloating but the rest of my symptoms aren't hugely improved yet & I'm struggling to wrap my head around that😔 But I'm okay! xx
