Had laparoscopy today and I do have endometriosis! I knew it wasn't all in my head!

it's been a crazy day!! I just got back from hospital and so relieved I have an answer after being in constant pain for over year! and also on and off pain since i was 16! I'm now 31!!! Nothing showed up on bloods and scans so it doesn't mean you don't have it! I don't feel like I'm going mad anymore ๐Ÿ˜‚ .

My consultant found deep infiltrating endometriosis on the left Pelvic side wall and on my left uterosacral ligament which he excised. Then he found a small amount of endo on my right ovary and adjacent to the appendix which he lasered off!! So he said it was rather bad.

He told me he was going to make one incision under my belly button at consultation for diagnostic laparoscopy but ended up having 4 incisions to operate. 1 under belly button, 1 on pubic area, and 1 on each side of tummy). I think I was under for a couple of hours. I know there is no cure but my consultant advised cutting out endo has a higher success rate of it not coming back.

I did quite a lot of research before surgery and read quite a lot of people had it burned off but can come back quicker as more chance of not removing it all properly.

He advised I should think of a contraceptive method like the coil, progesterone injections or the pill so I don't have periods as more of a risk of it building up again.

He also said I have a very fatty liver which he said I need to sort by keeping fit and healthy as could end up turning into psoriasis of the liver so that was a wake up call!

So Ye bit of a crazy day! So happy it wasn't all in my head!

If anyone else is going through a similar thing don't be fobbed off by Docters and keep pestering them until they investigate properly!!! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

I know diagnosis is quite bittersweet, but I am thankful you got the answers you were looking for and deserve! Your incisions were in same places as me. I am 10 months on and they are hardly even visible! my belly button is slightly more visible mainly when its cold and I am extremely pale lol. Take recovery easy, slow and steady as you can.

Good luck with the rest of your journey and healing <3

Despite the awfulness of this disease its such a relief to get diagnosed isn't it! Especially after years of feeling pain. Hopefully now you have more information you can get a treatment plan that works for you. I'm 11 weeks post opp today and have noticed a real reduction in pain this past week. I was told 4 months to feel the full benefits so that's really positive. Wishing you a speedy recovery :)

I remember being relieved that they had found that as like you said you start to think why can't anybody find out what's wrong so to finally have an answer is a relief if i hadnt been trying for a baby at the time of diagnosis i wouldve just gone back on the pill as i had no symptoms while on the pill previously until I'd been off the pill a yr and things started to go wrong. So i hope they manage to find something that helps your pain x
