Depends how well it goes, it's usually anything from 4 weeks I'd say 6 weeks to your university to be on the safe side. You need a lot of rest as expected, and not to put stress on yourself, not to carry heavy things or walk for that long. Also cleaning, you're not advised to do that for about 3/4 weeks.
Luckily I live with my parents so cleaning and stuff isnt a issue, Its just a case of uni, I go on placement end of april and the doctor said my op will be in the next 8 weeks so hoping it happens sooner rather than later so I am recovered for placement, I am training to be a teacher so I would be in a school teaching which doesn't allow rest :/
I have had a lap before but that was purely just to look nothing was done and they damaged all my muscle in my stomach by hitting the wrong layer when going in but that took me a while to recover because they had to slice me instead of just a simple hole.
Meeting with my tutor tomorrow to discuss this as all my deadlines are in 8 weeks. so difficult timing is rubbish but guess there's never a good time
I doubt you'd be able to start that soon, but you'd only miss a couple of weeks, and then you'd probably have to take it easy and do a lot of sitting. It sucks, but needs must and you don't want to push yourself and suffer a lot longer than you should.
When you're in bed/resting you can do a lot of written work and assignments as I did, but that's pretty much it.
My daughter has to stay at my mums for weeks which is horrid, but my surgeries have been pretty heavy.
I knew asking on here would be better as online it says youll be ok to do normal activities after a week, which i know isnt true as I could hardly walk to the bathroom for a week after my last one
Hi there, is 4/6 weeks because Kayjane has to be cut or is this a estimate on all laps with removal of endo, only I was under the impression that it was 1/2 weeks, I'm all so waiting around 8 weeks for my first op, diagnosis and removal if found, good luck. X
I have never had a normal lap because I had surgery on my belly button when i was a baby so they arnt allowed to just plunge in...... dont know if that makes a difference...... good luck with your op x
I know what you mean, the NHS website says 1 week, the endometriosis UK leaflet says around 2 weeks and my doctor said to me well you know how long it takes to recover from last time so its abit like will someone just tell me a right answer if I recover sooner bonus but Id like a guide haha, I'm going for 4 weeks as even though you feel slightly better after a couple of weeks i dont want to go over doing it and hurt myself your stomach is the core after all it does most things without us knowing
Hi I'm having a lap tomoz but I too have had surgery on my belly button had a mitro but also had a cyst as a kid. So I was told they are going to put the port holes in above my spleen? What or where did they do for u x
I had mind in April and really I would say less than 2 weeks. Although my belly button wound did take much longer to completely heal it didn't stop going about day to day activities as long as you're srnsible about it.
hahaha I know right. One of my surgeries I couldn't even sit up for a week, it was so painful to laugh! I had to get my boyfriend to assist me to the toilet and wiping my moo. Which was highly embarrassing!
I usually sleep a lot more, or have to sleep a lot more. I'm usually dosed up on a lot of painkillers like morphine constantly. You'll most likely have to take a lot of Tramadol, which causes drowsiness and confusion.
They've tried to remove mine on a regular basis but it keeps coming back. Every other year for 8 years now. I'm determined to keep my uterus though.
I just had a lap and laser 2 weeks ago, I'm still sore but am fine and am able to carry on with normal activities now. I have a daughter Andy have no outside help other than my husband so I did all the school runs in my second week and I was fine, I was fine to drive after 1 week, I had the cut in my belly button I think this is quite normal, I had one under my belly too. Both have been fine, I also had a merina fitted at the same time as this is my second laser lap
You just need to listen to your own body, every body is different, I don't think you need 6-8 weeks off, my consultant said 2 weeks off then take it easy after that
