Help - 2nd Lap to diagnose

Hi all,

Just to tell you my story, I am 29 and we don't have children yet. My mum suffered with stage 4 endometriosis since she was 24 and has just had a full hysterectomy. I have always has all of the signs of endo since being 12 years old.

I started my periods at 12 years old and these were excruciating, to the point I was being sick and curled up on pain killers and using hot water bottles. I had to stay off of school for 3/4 days per month they were so crippling. The pain was so intense that I made regular visits to the GP who eventually at 14 put me on the Depo-Provera to ease and stop my periods. My periods did ease slightly and I have been on progesterone only contraceptives ever since (Implant, Desogestrol and Depot). However, 3 years ago I was put under a Gynaecologist at xxxx as an ultrasound (requested due to extremely painful intercourse and bleeding) showed that I had chocolate cysts on my ovaries). Following this I had a diagnostic laparoscopy in December 2015 which showed no sign of Endo. However, I was still getting the cysts! I was having regular ultrasounds and check ups by the consultant. They treated me for IBS, told me to start exercising again and to start eating healthily again. I lost 3.5 stone and nothing was helping with the pain. Due to this my Gynae suggested that I come off all hormonal contraception and have the copper coil inserted. (She was testing the idea that progesterone was causing the cysts as 'there was no other explanation'). I had this inserted 5 weeks ago and for the last 5 weeks I have been in constant agony with my period! To the point that Sunday 18th March- Tuesday 20th March I as hospitalised with severe cramping and bleeding. It is exactly the same as when i was 12-14 years old: clots, sickness, cramps, bowel problems. I know this sounds disgusting but the blood flow was constant, as soon as I would put a pad on it would flood and even going to the toilet would end up in blood and clots pouring out of me. In the hospital I was referred to a Gynaecology specialist at xxxx who has requested another Laparoscopy, but this time they will be doing a Hystoscopy and a biopsy at the same time. I'm just feeling really frustrated as this has been constant now for almost 18 years! I have been told by multiple Gynaecologists that Endo can't always be seen with the naked eye and biopsies are always the best option. Also, that the copper coil shouldn't have been an option due to my past gynae problems! However, it is only now that I have been hospitalised that I am receiving another diagnostic lap. I just feel so defeated by it. I have been off of work this week due to the pain ( I am a teacher with SATs looming).

I went for me pre-op today and I have an op date 27th April at xxxx with a BGSE surgeon.

I just want some reassurance from anyone who has been/going through a similar experience or could just give me some advice.

Thankyou

Lisa xxx
