Hello all.
I’ve been given a date for next Thursday for my phone PIP assessment.
Does anyone have any tips before I go ahead with it?
Thank you!
I havent gone through this yet (Even thought I am planning to apply) Maybe write down as many notes as you can about how your symptoms effect you physcially (and mentally if applicable). Assume the most likely cause that they know nothing about endometriosis.
Don't be afraid to pause and think when they ask questions.
Phone citizens advice they might be able to give you some last minute tips and advice!
If like me i need to do something with my hands maybe doodle on a notebook while you speak to them or have a stress ball of some kind to ease any anxieties.
Sorry this is not much but I can see myself going through this process soon.
Wishes you all the best!
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply!
This is all helpful thank you so much.
Take care lovely!
I applied for PIP and unfortunately didn’t receive any help , they said I was physically mobile they couldn’t help me although I said on bad days which are 70% I struggle with 😔.
Good luck
Appeal the decision. I have a friend that works in that sector and when I applied she said to appeal the decision and you might then get it.
Not really helpful, but how long from putting your application in did it take to get this appointment? i did my application on the phone 10 weeks ago but not heard anything yet?
Good luck with your assessment, just be truthful and always base your answers on your worse days
To get PIP it goes off of points to be eligible to receive it. You have to really go into detail about your daily struggles and how it affects you on a day to day basis.
Good luck with it.
good luck! I hope you get some help, they lied on my report and said I could do basically everything myself and I was absolutely fine - which I never said or insinuated. I tried to appeal but got ignored, they are abit ruthless and try and catch you out with repeated questions and tricks, just try and be prepared as best you can, you’re allowed to record the phonecall yourself (incase you need to appeal) just make sure you tell them you are recording for your own purposes! 🩷
Tell them about how things are when you are at your worst, be careful not to downplay anything, as we all tend to do when talking to people. Maybe write down all the ways you are affected in different areas of your life, so you don’t forget to mention stuff.
Good advice to record.
Be prepared to be turned down, a lot of people have to go to appeal.
Good luck xx
When you answer questions, talk about your worst day. How it affects you in everyday life, e.g, the impact from pain, to walking, self care you really have to describe the worst times. I contacted citizens advice and got an advocate as I dint get it the first time.
