Hi everyone
I bit the bullet and booked a private appointment - I think I'll need a lap and excision of endometrioma.
How long did you wait for your operation after the initial appointment?
Would love to have a ballpark figure!
Thanks

It took mine 4 weeks from agreeing to surgery to being in theatre and they had to synch diaries of two surgeons.
I had however already had all scans done mri, sigmoidoscopy and ultrasound etc done and both surgeons knew what their plan would be. It was quicker than I'd been told to expect as it was summer season.
Hi mine was as soon as I wanted it, the earliest was the week after my appointment x
do I dare ask how much this is costing you, if you don't mind me asking?!
Mine was a package of £3000-ish (signed for diagnostic lap, removal of endo, and hysteroscopy) which included pre-op appointment (nurses check) and operation (theatre and hospital fee including room stay for a day and one meal).
As it's private the surgeon (my specialist) has their own fees, this was £800.The anaesthetist fees came separately at £400.
My initial consultation with my specialist was £200, as I was a new patient and new symptoms.
The check up (post op) 2 weeks later was £125.
I know it can vary quite a bit. This was with Nuffield Health, each consultant depending on experience and specialities is different.
If you have medical insurance it's worth using. If you don't your partners company may offer it and can add dependents / partners for a monthly amount.
I have had several ops privately and could be as early as a week after initial appointment. Good luck!
about four weeks from wanting the op to considering all the possibilities and booking a date - that wasn't even the first date available -I think the first was two weeks after my appointment!
Mine was 10 days after I decided to go ahead with surgery. But I suppose it does depends on surgeon work load and if you need multi disciplinary surgeons etc
I went for a private consultation and could have had mine the following week if I’d wanted. My quote was more expensive though so when he offered to take me on as nhs I jumped at it x
Thanks everyone - that's so helpful. Looking forward to getting it over and done with (although not looking forward to the bill!)
