Im on the waiting list for gyno, they say it’s over a year long? What the hell.

Im constantly bloated, uncomfortable and I literally always have a stomach upset feels like I’ve constantly got an ibs flare. It sucks.

How do I get seen quicker?

I was seen in 2 months! Is the year wait because you have to choose a hospital? I chose a far away one for my consultation because it had a 5 week or so wait. I drove 2 hours for it in the middle of nowhere lol. I selected the hospital on the nhs app

Ugh okay, I need to call my gp then. This is just Southend gyno so that’s probably why the wait is so long x

Yeah you should've had the option to choose a hospital. Choose the one that's the closest date, it doesn't matter if it's a couple hours away if it's for your health!

I live in the same area as Jmurf251. And, they don't let you choose what hospital you go to for your appointment. I asked repeatedly to go somewhere with an appointment that was sooner but they said it wasn't possible.

Are you doing things to support your gut health lovely as endo and gastro go hand in hand unfortunately x

When you chase the appt, talk about how it’s impacting your mental health and sleep etc.

I’ve started taking Symprove every day and have def seen an improvement (I have stage 4 endo on bowel and bladder but did have extensive surgery in October which has helped too). Worth a try!

I live near Southend like you. The waiting lists in this area are appalling, and they do not let you choose what hospital you go to. My sister had to wait 9 months for an appointment, and that was a short wait (supposedly). She only got seen as soon as she did, because I emailed PALs, called the GP, called the gynecology department, emailed the hospital she was referred to, and emailed the complaint department of the trust that the hospital was part of. If I had not done that she probably would have had to wait another 4-6 months on top of the first 9 months.

I totally feel your pain. In exactly the same position as you. On that waiting list. Don't seem to be getting anywhere fast. I looked into being seen privately but it's just so expensive 😫 and unfortunately money we don't have. It really does effect my moods too. Some days I just can't function Normally due to the pain and discomfort. Try stay positive as you can.

I live in different area, but I would keep trying to see if there is any cancellation. If you have NHS app keep checking if you can reschedule, see if there are earlier dates when you go to reschedule. If you don’t have NHS app, or there is no option to reschedule- call the hospital where your appointment is and ask if there’s any earlier date. That’s how I brought forward many appointments. For example Pain Management from 31/01/26 to May this year!

Get in touch with the team and let them know you are available for short notice cancellations. Sometimes that can get you seen earlier but you literally do have to be able to get there on the day for many of those.

In the meantime get yourself a copy of Heal Endo by Katie Edmonds and work out your best strategy for self supporting while you wait . Endo changes bowel function annd microbiome itself irrespective of whether you have actual endo on the bowel. Getting that better under control can really help. Also try @corerecoverypt on Instagram. Bloating can be aggravated by poor tissue functioning and posture which in turn makes the endo harder to manage . These exercises aren't kegels or standard physio but developed by specialist for endo and post operative rehabilitation. Saved my bacon Xxx
