I’m 2 weeks post lap and hysteroscopy tomorrow, had quite a lot of endo removed via diathermy and also a uterine polyp taken out.
Even though it’s nearly a fortnight since I haven’t seen much progress in recovery, im still completely exhausted and not past the point of doing much more than bed rest and a tiny amount of moving about the house.
My pain is definitely reducing but still needing painkillers on and off.
Appreciate everyone is different and we all take our own time but I wondered whether I should be concerned about lack of progress? I’m seeing my GP tomorrow.
Aww sorry to hear you're still recovering and tired.
It takes people different times to recover. I was told before my op that the more active you are then the faster the recovery, this also includes before the op. So after the first day try to move around as much as possible (pain allowing), by the second day aim to only be in bed when you need to go to sleep and use the sofa for resting to keep your normal body clock cycle going. On the third day you should be able to go for a short (5 to 20 mins) walk, or more in my case waddle real slow, and stop every 10 seconds). I'm guessing some people can do more than others, or only feel they can do a certain amount, no one can push you to do stuff if you don't feel ready.
I was on both paracetamol and ibuprofen together four times a day for the first week, and then only at night for the second week. Still tired by the third and just about managed being back in work. Moving and walking did definitely help as the rest of my body still needed to be active, I felt more tired the more I stayed in bed as it messed up my cycle. I found being curled up on the sofa actually a more comfortable position than the bed for pain relief.
Make sure you're eating lots of protein and drinking lots of water, your body is healing, as are the muscles so you'll need all that to help.
Don't forget mentally / emotionally you've been through a lot so you'll feel exhausted from that too.
