I am due to have my diagnostic lap on 14th Nov and a little concerned about recovery. I know everyone is different but I wondered if anyone would mind sharing their experience?
My work is fine with time off and happy to play it by ear with regular contact. I can also do some work from home which will be helpful.
But my concern is university. I am currently studying a masters where experiential group work is a key component. I have two days at uni the week after my op. I haven’t told my groups that I might not be there because I am hoping I will be. But am I just being naive? (Two full days sitting in comfortable chairs is hard enough)
Everyone is different but I couldn't have done it in my first week. I think at minimum you need to tell them so they can prepare for you not to be there. Also speak to your lecturer about it.
Some people are fine in a few days for me I didn't go back to work for 2weeks, it was a combination of pain but also intense fatigue. I'd go out for half a day to see a friend and is have to nap afterwards.
Hey, I know it is not what you want to hear, but I doubt you will be able to go to class so soon. For me things got back close to normal after the second week. Fingers crossed for your quick recovery!
Hey, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I was off work for 4 weeks afterwards. I did have a rough recovery, longer than expected, but it can happen so just be careful. Also as soon as you think you feel okay just remember your insides are still healing so don't do too much and take naps when you can as the tiredness will be a nightmare!
