Hi, it's my 4th day since a lap to remove endo and although I've been walking around slowly this morning which is progress. I'm now paying for it with some bleeding and really nasty pain and tummy swelling. Is this a normal part of recovery? Thanks all X

You've just had some doctor rummaging around in your insides for hours... Its only been 4 days please give your body time to heal. Move as much as you can manage but try not to push it. Moving with help get the gas they pump into your belly to absorb into your blood quicker so you wont have shoulder pain (if you do). Everyones recovery is different- i had my lap robotically and was back to work in a werk but that is why docs sign you off for 2 weeks. If you still feel pain in a few days you can always pop to gp but just rest up and take care of you xx

Aw thank you. When the consultant came to see me after the op, she said to make sure I'm up and going for walks by day 2 or 3 so I feel like a bit of a failure not being able to go far today but I know everyone is different. Thanks, your response really cheered me up. Hope you're well. Xx

I think these consultants should have laparoscopy themselves and see how it feels, I was in no state to go for a 'walk' even a week after my lap! Yes, I was mobile but it still hurt. Listen to your body and do not ever feel like you're a failure because you're healing slower than what they told you.

You should rest as much as you can - I spent 10 days in bed with minimum walking, just to bathroom and back, I was in a lot of pain. Don't push yourself too hard as you might delay your recovery.

Thanks I'm fine, I had my lap 3 weeks ago and I'm back to normal now but when I do too much, I get the pain in my tummy, still pretty bruised. Hope you have a speedy recovery! Fire up some DVDs or Netflix and have a binge (that's what I was doing) and just relax. With each day you should feel better (make sure you take your pain pills on time). Good luck :)

I'm really glad you're mostly better, can you tell the difference from before the lap (she asks hopefully!) X

Before the lap I was sore every day, period like pain and sore lower back, I was exhausted too. After the lap I was t sore for about  days (bliss). But...... I have just got my first period after the lap and oh boy! It's pretty painful and I've been passing clots (sorry for tmi) but apparently the first period can be like that and it might take 2-3 months before they settle (I hope so, it's not fun to live like this). I just hope it will go away quickly! Xx

I was meant to say I wasn't sore for 10 days. X

I did hear that the 1st period is pretty horrible but they definitely seem to settle down after that. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you chick. Xx
