Post lap recovery

Hi ladies

Hope you’re having pain free days. I had my 2nd lap last Thursday where they found “very mild” endo on my uterosacral ligament (my previous lap found endo in POD, adhesions and cysts - it’s probably a good thing they found less this time, but I can’t help feeling disappointed with diagnosis).

I’m exhausted and wondered if anyone has any tips. I’ve been reading online that I’m supposed to be doing 15 min walks twice a day by now with a view to walking for 30-45mins in a few days. I did a 15-20 min walk the last 2 days in a row but was in too much pain to sleep well last night. How do you balance trying to make progress with making sure you rest/recover? I think I overdid it, but according to projected recovery I’m not doing enough.

Any tips/advice would be so appreciated. Thank you!

Carly x

Don’t push yourself Carly! You’re only a few days out! I’m four weeks after my second lap and am still totally pooped.

It’s good to get moving but not to the extent that it causes you pain. Just take things at your own pace.

Everyone’s different so don’t judge yourself against what you read online. You just do you. You’re doing a splendid job.

Take it slow and increase your activity at a rate you’re comfortable with.xxx

Thank you for sharing your experience with me, it makes me feel better to know that it’s normal to feel shattered. I did take it easy yesterday and I feel worlds better for it. I’m going to be much kinder to myself, thank you for your advice! X

hi there yes as victoria said .try to take it easy and dont be too hard on yourself .we all heal at different rates so try not to compare just do what you are capable of doing without pushing yourself.the problem when we have operations is that its round our tummy area everytime we move cough laugh cry we feel it ,and never truely feel out of pain .make sure you get plenty of rest .let us know your progress take carex

Thank you! These comments really helped me just relax. I didn’t try to do all the walking yesterday and I feel much better in myself. Thank you so much for the encouragement! X

Thank you so much for your reply! I was feeling like a failure and was in a lot of pain. I took the advice yesterday and took it easy and I feel loads better for it. I’m going to chill out on the walking until the weekend and just potter around the house.

I never thought about why I was in so much pain yesterday until your comment. That’s so true, I will try to listen to my body more now in my recovery. Thanks so much, I really appreciate your advice X
