I’m 5 days post lap where they repaired my peritoneum and removed (excision) adhesions. I’m struggling to get back to normal. I went a walk with my family today and now feel completely exhausted. The horrible dragging sensation I’ve had since the op is much worse and I’m so achy. How long until you all felt normal after your lap?

Lap recovery time
5 days!OMG, Please do not push yourself. Take it very very very easy! It takes up to 6 weeks. You should rest, don't pick up anything heavy either. Spoil yourself in bed / on the couch days ahead
Would love to lie on the couch but my kids are on Summer holidays and we have a puppy too 😩 Usually my Mum would come stay but she had leg surgery in April and is still getting on her feet again. I think I was just being unrealistic about the recovery time. Doesn’t help when lots online says you should be able to return to work within a few days! 😱 Thanks so much for your reply. Will definitely try taking things a bit easier x
Ah, summer holidays, what a bad luck! Sorry!
I do not think it is realistic to be able to return to work within a few days, maybe if you are Super Woman
I broke one of my legs some years back and had to be in cast for 60 days. I was like you - the moment they removed the cast, pushed my leg! Even went to France a week later- big mistake I thought, ah well, the bone healed, cast is off, I can just go fulfill my summer work contract.....Big mistake Amids all of this my orto was like a broken record "you need time for recovery". Did I listen, nooooo
But with kids can be very hard, specially if you have no one to help! Hope it gets better in the next weeks! x
That sounds painful!!! It’s so hard not to push yourself though isn’t it. I’m a Teacher so postponed my op until the Summer holidays to save disrupting things for the kids at work but forgot about keeping my own busy in the holidays! 😂
Took me 9 days to get back to uni and I was taking it very easy for at least another week. Your body will tell you when you're ready.
Don't push yourself too hard. Rest up
I spent a lot of time shuffling around and crying because I couldn’t get up from chairs I had 9 days off uni and only then had permission to be absent from seminars as long as I attended the weeks big lecture and the assessments obviously! I was wiped 24/7 my friends sometimes found me just having a sit on the stairs because there were too many between me and the bathroom and I needed a minute. It’s all at your own pace I was still feeling wiped out from the little things long after the big pain had gone and if I pushed too hard I would get very tired very quick and cause myself pain in the process. Try rest as much as you can. Pushing yourself can make it worse and give you a hernia if do especially too much! (Was reminded of this an awful lot at the hospital!)
Hope you recover soon!
I took about two weeks to be able to do the small things, and about another two before I was well enough for work and sports. It takes a lot out of you mentally, just the exhausted feeling, so take it easy and listen to your body, there's lots of healing you can't see x
Hi, I’m 12 days post lap op and had only been feeling a little more myself by day 9/10 when my period arrived! Now having painful cramps again, particularly overnight, but at least I know it’s time limited. Hang in there, it will improve. I’m also being told not to push myself but want a bit of normality back. Main thing is not to do any heavy lifting. Good luck x
