Diathermy

Hiya. I had my lap at the end of the month January and im just a little concerned because it's 2 months post op and I'm still spotting blood. I had my period about 3 weeks ago yet for a week or so ive had spotting. My follow up isn't till 12 of April and ive done nothing but overthink. Thanks in advance

If anyone has knowledge or experience of diathermy as a treatment for (supposedly) mild endometriosis, that would be amazing to hear as well.

My pacemaker didn’t require pacemaker being turned off so they could use diathermy c) I would survive fast AF because all my other markers - bloods, echocardiogram were good and even if I went into fast AF I couldn’t have given heart meds or magnesium IV.

I’ve finally had a laparoscopy and I think I’ve had therapeutic treatment (maybe diathermy? No idea) via a private hospital as nhs would make me wait 6 months to a year.

I had had laparascopic diathermy and laser treatment for endometriosis in my 20s and 30s, but eventually taking the progesterone only pill meant I had no periods at all which was a massive result for me and I took them until I was 52.

There is thickening and scarring in the both uterosacral ligament, this has been ablated using diathermy. There was some fluid in the abdomen, this has been aspirated. There is evidence of endometrioma and both ovaries are freely mobile.

This was to avoid the plasma/diathermy cutter from confusing my ICD and it delivering a shock. When someone is doing fiddly work, it's most inconvenient if the patient jolts about, so I thought this was a sensible precaution. In went the local anaesthetic and the surgeon began her work.

. - I felt better after diathermy treatment than excision treatment, so again each person will respond differently to different treatments. The excision might be gold standard but I will take diathermy treatment any day.

Once I came round from the surgery I had a 2 min discussion with the consultant, who said she had found and used diathermy to remove endometriosis on my bladder and uterus but could only partially remove the cyst on my ovary and to get in touch if I decided to pursue hormonal medication.

I've been treated by diathermy it was found on my pouch of douglas and left uterosacral.

I had my laparoscopy two weeks ago, they found endo and a load of adhesions so performed diathermy. My period is now 4 days late. I did a pregnancy test at the hospital before the op. Did anyone else experience a late period after surgery?

symptoms for about a decade (and I have some other health conditions), but I finally got a referral to a gynaecologist last year and I had a laparoscopy on 27th May 2022 which the consultant came to me afterwards and said that she had found a couple of patches of endometriosis that she had treated with diathermy

They did find endo and used diathermy (I don't know much beyond that until post op consult next month) I'm just wondering at the moment about the incisions. I was fortunate enough to only have two. The lower one has been fine - dry with some bruising but about as you'd expect.

The findings revealed the following; - destruction of endo lesion of peritoneum - diathermy see endo on left uterosacral ligament I also have 2 fibroids 3cm and 4cm (consultant said it wasn’t near the colon when looked at through the laparoscopy). They haven’t treated the fibroids.

When I awoke from my laparoscopy over 19 days now, my consultant said that he only found a small area of active endo and an old bit of endo and got rid of both with diathermy and that by the time he had finished there was no endo left.

I had it removed via excision/diathermy and am now recovering well. One piece of advice I must have missed on discharge is when to completely remove the dressings covering the incisions.

She ‘treated’ the endo with diathermy in my pelvis and on my cervix. I have to say, my daily pain has reduced but when I have a flare up or a period, I feel like the pain is worse than ever.

I had surgery for endometriosis removal via laparoscopy with diathermy to endometriosis and insertion of mirena coil.
