Should I keep the Mirena coil or remove it? Advice please!

I have had the mirena levonorgestrel IUD for over a year now which was put in during my last surgery to remove endometriosis and I've been experiencing certain symptoms which I can't narrow down and neither can the doctors despite having tests. The symptoms I've been experiencing are....

Chronic pelvic pain, extreme bloating, stomach tenderness, lower back pain, aches and pains all over but mainly hips, nausea, headaches, dizziness, brain fog, blood pressure on the lower end of normal, anxiousness, irritable/emotional, tender cervix, lethargy, exhaustion, tachycardia and hypersensitivity to my body like sometimes I can feel my pulse bounding.

I still have a period every month but it's very light however recently they've become very painful to the point I feel sick and dizzy. I know a lot of these are endo symptoms however since my surgery they are worse and I know anxiety can make things feel worse but I'm just unsure on whether the mirena could be aggravating things more. Has anyone else had similar experience with the mirena?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm considering having it removed to see if my symptoms improve.

Those are symptoms I’ve heard repeatedly from women who have the coil. It’s not a one size fits all kind of contraception. It may be that it just doesn’t suit you, and you need to try something else. If it were me, I would have the coil removed immediately, wait a few months to see if those symptoms subside, then look in to something else.

The coil didn’t suit me, I had very similar symptoms and, when it was removed, lost a unit of blood and clots the size of my fist. Some women are sensitive to it and it’s best out. Hope you feel well soon. X

The Mirena didn’t suit me, for similar reasons. I had it removed after 8 months xxx

Hi all, I had it removed and my god what a difference it made! Thanks for all your advice. She actually said after pulling it out it felt as though it was sitting quite low which could of cause some discomfort but I feel much better with it out x

Also, did it take a while for anyone’s periods to get back to normal? X
