So I got the Mirena coil last Tuesday(1week) and since then I've been in agony. I need to pee every 20 minutes, constant and extreme cramps to the point I'm on the floor in tears screaming, backache, feel nauseous all the time, hot and cold sweats everyday and night, I can't sleep due to cramps. At times if I move a certain way feels like I'm being stabbed by something sharp. I do plan to see my GP as soon as possible but I'm worried they'll tell me to stick through this and it'll settle down in time. I don't think I can cope through much more of this, I had the implant before but was on my period heavy for 9months straight before saying enough was enough.
What I need to know is how long do most people's symptoms last? Is it worth just having this removed?

Hi, your experience sounds awful.. at the exclusion of everything else the dr thinks I have endo and suggested a coil if it doesn’t settle down.. looking at your experience I don’t feel that a coil is the way to go.. I hope you find some answers and feel better soon. x
Ditto. Being seen by The Gynaecology team. All are recommending the coil but looking at the experience people go through I’m not sure it’s the answer for me, despite a packed pelvis from my Endometriosis.
It’s your body and your decision hun I’m sorry to hear your suffering clearly your body isn’t agreeing with the coil and personally I would have it removed but you know what’s best for you xx
Hi, I’m sorry your in so much pain, I know exactly what your going through! I had a Mirena Coil put in during surgery and was so worried about having it after reading about it, I told them to only put it in if I had endo! But I had the exact same pain for a good two weeks, consistently... I would have a hot water bottle between my legs and underneath my lower back. I went to docs and she said it’s because my uterus was contracting as it’s a foreign object, she said it is normal but to keep an eye and gave me painkillers. I decided to stick it out and honestly it has improved... I’m first period was due last week and just had a lot of spotting... there is pain but it’s not as bad now so I’m sticking with it a bit longer! Touch wood. I think it may be worth seeing how you do, from my experience it’s worth trying but I totally get the pain your in if you feel you need to get the thing out!
Also I forgot to mention I had dizziness and nauseous and was tested for infection, so I would ask about that too especially with the amount of symptoms you have xx
