Failed colonscopy after drinking 3 litres bowel prep. Horrendous weekend.

Lying awake on a hot water bottle in this heat waiting for cocodamol and buscopan to start working. I had a difficult weekend. After 3 litres of Kleen prep (bowel prep) unable to do colonoscopy. As soon as pumped air in I was in agony and consultant couldn't get camera around first corner as closed. Absolute nightmare. He thinks it's because of surgery I've had prev appendicectomy, bilateral ovary and hysterectomy. My ovaries were stuck to my bowel. Feeling fed up with this crappy disease. My local hospital even though gynae have been brillant don't know what they're doing. No communication vetween surgeons and gynae. My gp has now referred me to endo centre and ref has been accepted. As yet awaiting appt. I need a mri pelvis first. Spoke to secretary yesterday and explained failed colonoscopy. Communication seems better already especially since "Team meetings" have been mentioned. Just to have someone at the end of the phone to listen helps. Nothing like feeling alone with a disease that the majority of doctors don't understand. My gp is confused about the disease. I know have 1 gp dealing with me instead of about 7. Lack of communication is so flustrating. Hopefully I'll get sone better support once I start attending the endo centre. Just fed up at the moment. My gp gave me buscpab abd cocodamol to get me through my holiday. Endo destroys everything. X

Oh you poor thing, thankfully you are now under the care system that we deserve, it makes me so mad that we have to go through si much before we get referred to the right people,

I've also had a hysterectomy for adenomyosis and endo removed by general gyne, thankfully I'm now under a bsge specialist centre awaiting another laparoscopy to remove overies and any endo found, which I'm convinced the gyne has missed,

The only problem with these centres is the waiting list, but I'd rather wait longer under the right team,

Good luck, and chin up, things are on the up, even if it dosnt feel like it, xxx

I did have a cancellation appt this week but then I was told I need a mri pelvis first. So I had to cancel it . I've asked secretary if I could have mri of bowel since failed colonscopy. I don't really want a GA colonoscopy since consultant couldn't get tube through. I think ga would be pointless. Plus since weekend torture my stomache us 100% worse. Just fed up .

I am so so sorry you have to go through this, that does sound horrible :( Take solace in the fact that it will all soon be over. You just need to get through this horrendous time somehow. I know easier said than done but i am in india and we dont even have a public healthcare system here (you wouldnt go to the government run hospitals here even if you were dying) so i have to pay for everything from my pocket, and endo doesnt allow me to work and on top of it the surgeons are clueless. I hate endo so much, it robs so many women of everything.

I went through a horrendous time2 years ago. I was misdiagnosised after years and years. Eventually when I did get much beeded hysterectomy I was endometrosis stage 4 with huge endometromia ovaries attached to bowel and wrapped around appendix. Hence why I'm getting liwer right pain. Consultant was more interested in saving my lufe than removing bits of endo. X

I've always worked. I suppose I've always just dealt with pain. I see work as a focus otherwise I would walliw in self pity and have no focus in life. I worked a 13 hour, then 8 hour shift, did shopping /housework before my last op. Woke up to here the devastating news of the mess my stomach was in. Lucky nothing ruputured really as fallopian tubes were dialated and filled with blood and my ovaries had turned to huge endometriomas. I just thought well perhaps the pain wasn't real and it was pyschological . It was nice to be believed and for people who told me to deal with it , were actually upset and apoligetic. Yes we are blessed with good health care in nhs. Took me a while to recieve right care but got there just un nic of time.

I used to work fulltime too until I was made redundant because I was taking too many days off. Can't really blame them, I was taking 8-10 days off every month, I would have fired myself too, lol. Now I freelance when I can. We don't even have a benefits system here so there is literally 0 support from the government. Luckily my husband has a decent job so things are not that tough but I hate feeling like a freeloader.

Anyway, I hope you feel better soon...it is indeed nice to be believed by someone, anyone :(. Please take the painkillers as needed and do whatever you need to do to cope, there are indeed no prizes for putting up with it.

I totally understand where you are coming from. I had a colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy one of which was aborted as the pain was unbeleievable I was crying so much! For years I was told I had ulcerative colitis but one of the internals showed nothing. I felt so upset and it took more years for me to be diagnosed with endo. It is def best to see a bsge clinic. I hope all becomes better soon and that you get the answers you need.

Thank you Lindle. My current hospital were on about a general anaesthetic. I've spoken to my gp and she agrees what's the pnt if there's a blockage. They won't be able to do it under GA. I'm still sore in my stomach. Just a bit fed up with it all. I get rectal pain as well. Basically I feel as though the endo is just eating my body!!
