Hi guys,

I'm new to community, so first of all- Hello!!

I feel like i've been going in a bit of a circle recently, and just wanted to reach out for some help or advice, or anything really!

For as long as I can remember, I have always had horrendous periods- sickness, bloating, tiredness, cramps. I have been prescribed a multitude of meds and contraceptives: NSAIDs, Codeine based tablets, pills potions, you name it, i've probably had it at some stage.

I was diagnosed with Endo 3 years ago when I finally convinced a GP to refer me to a gynae. They did a Lap and burnt away the lesions and also fitted the Marina Coil. About 6 months to a year later, the pain was back worse than ever. My GP then advised me to take Microgynon (Contraceptive Pill) back to back in 3 month cycles and prescribed me Mefanamic acid, or tranxenamic acid for particularly heavy months.

I found they didn't really work for me,

I was only having 1 period every 3 months due to the hormones, and whilst this was great for a while (once every 3 months was better than every month!) I started to then experience pain whenever I was due on, regardless of whether I actually had a period or not. Back I went to the GP and I am now currently taking Diclofenac Sodium.

I have found that although I am able to manage the pain more now, its the side effects of the meds that are getting me. Whenever I take my painkillers I feel nauseous or am violently sick. I work on a phone and am having to take increasing amounts of time off work. Soon it is going to be HR referalls.

My GP is reluctant to send me back to the Gynae as in her words "its only been 3 yrs since my last op"...

I just don't know what to do. I feel like i'm going in circles, and every route I take, I seem to be met with a dead end.

I just want something that will enable me to function like a human and go work as normal. I hate having time off, and I can't see an end in sight.

Sorry for such a rant for my first post.. I really do look forward to hearing some of your experiences and any advise will be greatly appreciated!

Debbie

You poor thing. Sounds miserable! I have had years of similar and tried so many different options to help with endometriosis. I had 3 or 4 laps within the c . 5 years. The last one to remove endo was only a couple of years after the last one and there was more of it. Your GP is talking rubbish! I have just has my ovaries and tubes out only a year after my last lap as a last resort. It's 3.5 weeks after and recovering from the op but struggling with the HRT so not an easy solution . It doesn't sound like you can continue as you are so I would insist you are referred back. If you can afford it it might be worth getting an initial consultation privately. (c.£150)You can then go back to the NHS if any op required. It's usually the same person! Good luck!

Wow, wishing you a speedy recovery!

Quick update- just been to see a different gp and she was also amazed what the last one said. She's prescribed me some anti sickness tablets to help me combat nausea and hopefully enable me to stay at work. She also immediately referred me back to discuss next steps. Looking hopeful so I definitely feel more positive today!
