Hi all , I just had my gallbladder removed and went for bloods. I will admit I put on a few kgs now 70kg and was told my cholesterol is a little high amd my glucose 5.5 was told 5.4 is the cut off. Never ever has this even been a marker for me . I'm terrified I have diabetes. Can gallbladder do this temporarily,,? Can me being so slightly over be a diagnosis for diabetes? Tommorow I'm having g the glucose test. How can this just happen, 3 weeks ago in hospital I was pricked for a check all normal. Never had high glucose I'm my life 40 yr old f. Any I advice would be great . Ps I also have blurier vision than usual, no thyroid

worth getting B12 checked as absorption can be affected by gall bladder operations. In some instances B12 deficiency can also cause high cholesterol and impact on blood sugars

Hi Contra, don’t worry to much at the moment, have your full blood count done and wait to see what your HbA1c comes up with, if it’s above 41 you are pre-diabetic but it can be brought down again by diet. I was diagnosed at the beginning of this year as my Hb was 53, I was put onto an nhs diet and told to lose weight, I was 82kg at the time and now I am 69kg, my recent blood test shows my Hb is now at 42 so still pre-diabetic so I still need to keep an eye on what I eat and to get more exercise, I did my first ever 5k Parkrun this weekend and was so proud of the fact, legs have been hell over the last couple of days but that’s to be expected 😆. I have my bloods taken every 3 months as this is the range they keep an eye on your Hb, so if yours is showing high now but in 3 months time they could be ok. I do a finger prick test at home now and again to keep an eye on myself but the finger prick test only shows your blood at that moment in time whereas the bloods taken by the doctors every 3 months is the actual score you will need as this is your test of HbA1c. Sorry I’m not good at explaining things but if this is your first test then don’t worry to much just be careful in what you are eating. X

Hi there, thanks so much for replying. So grateful you Iost the weight. I have anxiety since surgery amd low blood pressure. I'm trying everything and to eat better. Stress. How did you lose the weight? What do you eat daily? Congratulations amd in your run ! 🎊 you should be so proud. I did the glucose drink test which showed the 5.4 to 5m4 then DOD hba1 and I'll attach it. Drs just said your fine. What you think?

Hi, can you see the chart I put up? I would say yours look fine 5 is a healthy mark. Eating wise I just make sure to not have too many carbs and make sure that I have vegetables with every meal and smaller portions.
